Synopsis
In one of the most unique memoirs of addiction ever published, Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx shares mesmerizing diary entries from the year he spiraled out of control in a haze of heroin and cocaine, presented alongside riveting commentary from people who were there at the time, and from Nikki himself. When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days -- sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers -- in a coke and heroin-fueled daze. The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions. Here, Nikki shares those diary entries -- some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre -- and reflects on that time. Joining him are Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Slash, Rick Nielsen, Bob Rock, and a host of ex-managers, ex-lovers, and more. Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and shockingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom -- and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again., In one of the most unique memoirs of addiction ever published, M tley Cr e's Nikki Sixx shares mesmerizing diary entries from the year he spiraled out of control in a haze of heroin and cocaine, presented alongside riveting commentary from people who were there at the time, and from Nikki himself. • Review by an addict

I had began reading this book a couple of years back when I was still an active addict, even though I was in a state that I couldn't remember much and nothing that anyone did or said meant anything to me, I still remembered the few chapters that I had read. Even then this book had made an impression on me. This book is a must read for anyone that has a problem or that has someone close that has a problem. Nikki Sixx describes the highs and lows of addiction in a no holds barred kind of way. He tells the real story of how the drugs can take over even the strongest, richest person and takes them to a state of dementia that weakens them. It doesn't matter who stands in the way, nothing is more important than that next high, nothing can stop it not even death. In the book he talks about how ...

  • Good look inside the life of an addict and Nikki

First thing, as soon as this book arrived, my girlfriend went 'snag!' and I didn't see the book for 2 weeks. I can't speak to her review but she says she liked it. The cover and pictures interspread throughout the book are really cool, kind of like distorted Nikki with blood and stuff, gives it a neat look. The book itself is really good too. It's basically his diary of when he was high as a kite on heroin, and then after the diary excerpt will be comments from either people affected or Nikki himself today. If you're a crew fan like myself this is a must have. If you want to know how low and dark you can go being on heroin this is also a must have. Nikki did it all, coke, booze, whatever, but heroin was his drug of choice. This diary basically follows him along as you watch and shake your ...

  • Great Read by Gittins & Sixx

I loved this book. Opened it and never put it down till I was done. I don't believe that you need to be a Motley Crue fan to enjoy this one. This is an amazing look into the hollow world of a rock star who has the world by the balls and can't get away from the demons. A truly gritty look into the world of a drug addict who just so happens to have all the money and contacts that are needed to keep a habit like this up. Loved the format of the book and all of the insight from the people who shared this year with Sixx. I only wish the book was a couple hundred pages longer. I cant wait to read The Dirt now.
