From one of the most celebrated and beloved picture book creators working in the field today comes a memorable new character and a suspenseful adventure just right for reading and sharing at home and in the classroom. It is Kitten's first full moon, and when she sees it she thinks it is a bowl of milk in the sky. And she wants it. Does she get it? Well, no . . . and yes. What a night! A brief text, large type, and luminescent pictures play second fiddle to the star of this classic picture book--brave, sweet and lucky Kitten! "Henkes's text, reminiscent of Margaret Wise Brown's work in the elemental words, rhythms, and appealing sounds, tells a warm, humorous story that's beautifully extended in his shimmering, gray-toned artwork."--ALA Booklist Indefatigable Kitten is a role model for all ages--taking chances, picking herself up when she fails, trying out new strategies to get what she wants, and figuring out when enough is enough. Winner of the Caldecott Medal, an ALA Notable Book, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book, and winner of the Charlotte Zolotow Award., What a night! The moon is full. • My son loves it ♡

We have a cat at home so I bought this book for my two year old son. He really likes it. It's about a kitten who sees the moon full for the first time and thinks it's a big bowl of milk in the sky and tries everything it can to get that bowl of milk. Very sweet book.

  • Great caldecott book winner

Great caldecott book winner....used book quality is also awesome. Very good condition. My 3rd grader used this for her book report comparison with another caldecott book and was able to reproduce the same picture with ease. Also great book for 3 yr old and above or when your little one has more control not to tear the pages for this is not a board book. Overall good book read.

  • What a book!

Where to start -- What a book! The illustrations are simple, black and white, and oh-so-expressive. The story is simple, easy-to-follow, and oh-so-engaging. While "Kitten" is a completely different story, it reminded me of everything I loved about Sendak's "Where The Wild Things Are". Best of all, "Kitten" is the perfect length book to read to my toddler at bedtime. What's not to love? -- What a book!

  • It's a great story for pre k, because the author puts a value on the cat's

I liked this story quite a bit, but felt the author did too much editorializing with "Poor kitty," and at the end, "Lucky Kitty." thought the story could've been better than that, the author jumping in and stating his value judgemnt on the kitten's well being. that's something the reader should decipher for themselves.

  • Great book for kindergarten

Thus book is wonderful, the pictures and the story. Perfect for my kindergartners. Also, the book came very fast, thank you!
