The book goes into fine details of the life & the lifestyle of everyone concerned or connected with this crime. It also goes into graphic & gruesome details of the murderer Stacey Hanna. However, it has very little background on the victims Stacey Hanna. And instead paints are as a shoplifter, manipulator, trouble maker, & liar. I find it very odd and somewhat disturbing that the author was able to access so much information & so much personal history from everyone around(right down to the personal history & habits of the man who owned the land where the attack first started.) But, for some reason she was unable to include anything in her book from Sandy Hanna mother, family, or friends. Other then trying to make them look bad over their outrage about this murder. Instead very long detailed accounts of the all the murderer's lives. A more appropriate title for this book would have been "A final choice of friends" That the only things in these girls life was, living on a steady non-stop diet of loud music, alcohol, LSD, pot and an occasional package Ramon noodles. When the occasional decent person came along they were kicked to the side & ignored. In a house that seemed like producers of the Jerry Springer show should have funded as the breeding ground for future shows. A group headed by a self-proclaimed "Lesbian love Goddess" so irresistible that she had nothing but admirers, lovesick puppies and want-to-be lovers following her around. Letting this self-importance go to her head she egged these people on & then she found it necessary to take a gang of killer Handmaidens out & kill this girl. Because, that is the mentality of most of the people in this book. It would seem that the only thing Stacey Hanna did wrong was to pick a terrible group of friends. One thing that the reader must hope for is this book was a driving force to have the Va. social worker & youth counselor Debbie Parker fired from her job. Seeing that she did not have any business at all to disclose Stacey Hanna's personal & legal business to the book author.Had Ms Parker worried more about Stacey when she was alive & her persistent calls to Parker begging her for rides to get her away from her potential murderers. Had Parker worried more about that then, other then worry about talking to the author of this book after the murderer. It is 100% for sure that there would of never been a murder. And then Parker adds insult to injury by downgradings Stacey's mother In the book.(I have yet to figure out why just because you may of not gotten along with your mother she should not be any less outraged when you are murdered) Much has been made in some circles that Stacey Hanna was not lesbian. I do not find that is germane.Whether she was lesbian or not she did not deserve to be tortured to death by these lovesick, weak minded, handmaidens of a self-proclaimed "Irresistible lesbian love Goddess" who in truth was nothing but a thug. Through-out the book They minimize their role in the murder, point fingers at each other,& try to blame everybody & everything else but themselves. As you read the accounts of after they were arrested you can see that any remorse they tried to put on is phony. They save their remorse for themselves. You'll see that the mother & the state kind of failed. Some of the people that tempered w/evidence & were even there at murder were not charged. Some were sent to prison. But,it's like all that happened is they ended on "The Dating Game"Vollständige Rezension lesen
I read the book only for simple curiosity. I am from Richmond and I knew Mica and her mother, Pam. Whoever told these people that Mica was a lesbian couldnt have been more wrong. I didnt really like the book for its content per se. I dont know where this woman got these 'facts' as it certainly couldnt have been from anyone close to the case. Stacey's mom said all that she did because she was hurt. After all, wouldnt you be if your daughter was brutally murdered? Mica said and I quote 'it was one of those situations where someone needed to die' so when Mica got handed the death penalty Stacy's mom repeated those words. When this crime happened all the news reports kept saying 'lesbian love ring'. I never batted an eye until the picture surfaced on the front page of the Richmond Times Dispatch. I looked at that picture and looked again..yep, sure enough it was Mica. I thought lesbian? Mica isnt a lesbian and even in court documents it was revealed that she isnt. How a story can unfold based on a half truth is beyond me. I am not defending her by any means. The attack they issued to Stacy was horrific and my opinion is they all should have had the death penalty, including Dana who stayed in the car feigning illness. They all knew where they were going and what they were doing. Stephanie Cull tried to say she was in fear of her own life and so that must be the reason she carved 'Liar' in the girls' back. PLEASE! People who cash in on other people's tragedies certainly dont deserve critical acclaim.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This book is so unbelievably, heartbreakingly, eye openingly cruel, that I had a book w/ the story in it before and have purchased it a second time. 3 or 4 lesbians tortured for hour and hours a very young girl out of jealousy. It makes me sad , still to recall whay the young teen went through for doing nothing , but flirting. They kidnap her, beat her repeatedly in the head w/ something like a fire poker, over and over they try to kill her and she just wouldnt die...they eventually set her on fire, ALIVE!!! This is a compelling book to read...til justice is served. It is the top of the line, if you enjoy a true crime story. I hope these girls repent, and are born again, because surely they will bust Hell wide open when their time comes to meet God if they do not get saved.
i bought this book because i know all four of the girls in this book. it happend many years ago and i fel like i am finally ready to read the story of what really happend the night of the murder.
