An affordable, light weight, portable, and decent lens with retro results
This is a short length and light weight outdoor lens that is perfect for digital cameras with live view. Although short in range (28mm to 70mm), it is portable and more robust than a fixed focal length lens due its additional focal length without adding too much room and weight. The picture IQ is decent in the shade and lacks most of the sunlight control like modern lenses. If used appropriately (with lens hood), it produces pleasant results, a retro film look to images. The center is sharp enough but the background fades away quickly even at stop down levels. Great product, Nice feel. Certainly a lens anyone would love to own!
Recently I purchased a Canon T90 FD mount film camera and since then i've been looking for accessories and lenses, I also own a few old M42 mount cameras. I enjoy using both of these cameras for different purposes and i want flexibility when it comes to lenses. Rather than buying multiples of the same length lenses i decided to go for Tamrons Adaptall range. This type of lens is no longer developed anymore but I believe Tamron was really on the ball with this idea, the optics was made and the mount on the bottom could be interchanged, now this is a brilliant idea because you were able to buy a different branded camera with a different lens mount and you would not need to purchase all your lenses again, so straight away it offered freedom to those who owned them. This particular Model the 159A has a focal length of 28-70mm and the max aperture is 3.5. Not the fastest lens in the world, but it does offer the flexibility of a fairly wide angled shot at 28mm to 70mm. I am by far no expert at photography, but this lens is amazing for outdoor activities at the beach or BBQs during the day where a slightly slower lens will not matter. The lens is quite light weight and the dials turn quite smoothly (i suppose it depends on the condition of the lens you get) but the over all build quality is plasticy, i'm use to lenses made solid and heavy, so it may just be my biasness. The Picture quality seems good - although i have not used this lens enough to give an accurate opinion on the vignetting and aberrations. I own a few Tamron Adaptall Lenses, like i mentioned before I am a fan of the flexibility that it brings with owning one. The mounts take no longer than 30 seconds to remove and swap, and if you like collecting cameras of yesteryear, then you will love owning one set of lenses which you can use on your whole beloved collection. I certainly will recommend this product to all those who own an old 35mm format film slr camera, in my opinion it is similar to the 18-55mm kit lens that you now get with DSLRs and at the price i got mine for, it really won't hurt to get one just cause. also, do not think that because you own a digital camera you are unable to use this lens, provided you have the correct mount you are still able to take advantage of this lovely item - just in full manual, which gives that much more satisfaction once you are able to frame the exact shot you had in mind.

Worth the Money.
If you can find an adapter for your camera brand, buy this lens. It has a 52mm filter size. It is sharp and easy to use.

Much better than I expected
The online review indicates this is an average lens, but I found it's surprisingly good. Considering the super low purchase price, it's a great value.
