Sonic fans rejoice because the blue hedgehog is back in true fashion. Many Sonic fans have been disappointed (and rightfully so) with recent Sonic games that have gone awry. Secret Rings returns to the tried and true Sonic formula. In this game, the worlds are 3D, but Sonic runs along a set path, deviating only slightly to the left or right as he runs forward. For most of the levels, Sonic will be blasting forward at his normal "blue blur" speed. Your job is to make him dash left or right to pick up rings or avoid the bad guys. As usual, Sonic can also jump to clear obstacles or stomp on the bad guys. The controls for the Wii work well and are fun. You hold the wii-mote sideways and tilt forward to run, back to slow down, and side to side to move left or right. The buttons allow you to jump, or move backwards. Visually, the game is spectacular. Each world is enormous, colorful, and crisp. The sound is good, but can become redundant over time. The story line is a little and voice overs leave a lot to be desired, but don't affect the gameplay at all. In general this is a fun game making great use of the Wii controls. This is a good overall choice for most Wii owners and a great choice for anyone looking to revisit the Sonic legend.Vollständige Rezension lesen
My six year old got this for his birthday a couple of months ago. And, although I need to help him with some of the reading he seems to be enjoying the game. There is obviously a lot more to it--with equipping the different rings--learning some of the more difficult maneuvers, etc. but he's moving right through the game and likes it on the 'six-year-old' level for now. I think as he gets better at reading--or if this game is played by an older child (or adult! :-)--it would have more depth--but for now, it's a hit! BTW... he also got Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the Wii, and he does not like that game at all, so even with alternative titles to play, he prefers Sonic! FOR PARENTS... if you're not a gamer--just a parent looking for a game for the kids--my son has been gaming since he was about three. So, he's an 'experienced' gamer. If the kids are new to gaming, this might be a bit harder to play. I would suggest renting it first to see if it's something the kids like before investing the $$ to buy it.Vollständige Rezension lesen
First off me and my son are sonic junkies. i bought a wii this year(2011) and had to get all the sonic games of course. The one thing all the platformers for this console have in common is that all the controls are different from the next one. in this one you hold the controller sideways and tilt it back and forth or side to side to control sonic. It starts off a bit slow but as you level up(yes there is a rpg aspect to it.) you can start to go faster. the game engine is very similar to sonic and the black knight. and also similar to that game it is on rails, the landscape is beautiful as always with games from sonic team but you cant explore a lot of it. once you complete a classic style sonic level(just getting to the goal) you can go back to beat specific challenges within the level. As for the mini game portion we haven't played too much of it but it isn't ground breaking and seemed like a new adaptation of sonic shuffle (for the dreamcast) but instead of being on a game board with mini games there is several different styles like the winner of each mini game gets to open treasure boxes avoiding the booby trapped ones and when all the boxes are opened the person with the most treasure wins. all in all if you looking for a sonic game in the classic sense this is not the game for you. Sonic colors or the day levels from sonic unleashed are more of the sonic you know and love. but if your looking for a bargain title with a familiar face or a new title to fill the time before project cafe is done in 2012 then you should get this game. if you like this game you should also get sonic and the black knight.Vollständige Rezension lesen
With Sonic the Hedgehog out for 360 and PS3, you'd think the Nintendo Wii would have it also, thing is, this isn't the same game. The whole game is motion sensored and the graphics are so beautiful. The story sets in the book of the Arabian Nights, but an evil genie wants to destroy the book so he can go into the real world and destroy it. But Sonic is transported into the book to stop him. The story could be better and the controls are hard to manuever at first. If you remember that this is a Sonic game and get used to the controls, you will definitely enjoy this game. And if you get bored with the game, bring a friend and have fun in the party mode (which is like a copy of the mini games in Mario Party 8).
Not too bad but it isnt great. I have to agree with ign's rating of the game. It can be fun, but sometimes the controls make you wanna scream. The storyline is TERRIBLE, but occasionly speckled with lovable sonic humor. Oh, and voice acting isnt perfect either-little childish like. And its really really easy. Almost instant checkpoints and no lives. You cant pick up your rings anymore, and you only lose 20 at a time. Some of the "bonus" levels are annoying, and you just wanna get on with the game. This may sound negative, but its got a lot of fun stuff too.
