this is the best flash equipment still. some njinny bought one from me because he burnt out his 75 "recycling" the battery. you can't burnb this head out recycling anything, let alone a battery. then he said he preferred a better brand I vaguely heard of that turned out to be studio lighting(and I'm like waiting with baited breath to find out what flash system he has that is better than the Metz 60 series and he's taking abiout studio lighting that is better than flash lighting, comparing apples and oranges. some people, I swear don't have the sense to pour urine out of their boots before putting them on..

The 60 Ct-4 cost over $500 back in the day and was the biggest, fastest baddest camera mount Flash of it's day and as far as i know still is the most powerful because it achieves its 60 (199 US)guide number without a zoom attachment, without a fan and without time outs for getting too hot whereas the latest Metz 76's have to have a zoom attachment, a fan and time outs if they get too hot, to achieve the 76 guide number. I read one review from an owner that stated the GN of the 76's without the zoom is only 54, but Metz is really coy about it, hiding it, so I wasn't able to verify if it was true, though I tried hard to find corroboration. But if it's true, then i'd say it's pathetic for Metz to have a flagship system that's less powerful AND uses a fan than their flagship fanless system of 30 years ago Yeah the new ones have a lot of g-whizzery, most of which is also found on today's digital cameras, such as bracketing. It does have auto-zoom, but in away so does the 60: IT's CALLED AUTOMATIC or TTL LIGHT CONTROL.The 60's have the most wide ranging versatile auto settings of any auto-thyristor flash ever made. In my opinion, they are still useable with digital cameras that have a hot-shoe or PC sync port that they can connect to, or even with a slave light sensor that lets the camera shutter meter the light it puts out. That so many are still a round is a testament to the system;s durability. Finally, in my opinion, there is NO digital camera out there that can get the lifelike results in terms of vividness, clarity and lifelike prints that i got with a 60 CT4 system bounced in an umbrella, a Nikon Fe2, a Tamron 35-105 2.8 aspherical and Kodak Ektar 50 film (30 isn't available anymore) outside in the shade shooting portraits and then actual chemical processing for both the film 9of course) and the prints. the first mistake was the processors took to digitally printing our negatives, rendering them as flat and lifeless as digital prints. it suckered me too, the convenience. But recently I remembered how much nicer my analog portraits were with chemical processing and decided to start shooting film again. I still have all my old equipment. So now i have to order my film on line & find an actual lab that still does chemical processing. This system was the best of the best for film photography, and film photography still being the best in my opinion, makes this system still the best there is,Vollständige Rezension lesen
Every once in a while there is something that is just that good. The Metz 60CT4 is one of these items. You have tons of power and accuracy built into the unit. Only TTL is better, and the firing voltage is approximately 6 volts, which makes this unit safe for digital cameras. Batteries are inexpensive and repairs are completed within a week at any pro shop. The 60CT4 has been a workhorse for me for over a decade, using only 2 units,(one which I accidentily broke into pieces)without having to worry. If you include the 60CT1 (I had 2 of which one still works) it has been 20 years. I have been able to shoot in the brightest daylight and completely fill in "racoon eyes" only using one flash. I have lit up large halls of over 600 guests using only one flash. I can bounce it off of almost any surface and still get decent exposures. It is a tough unit that can take a lot of abuse. I photograph weddings nearly every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and this unit serves me well.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This flash is a monster and will put out a lot of light if needed. Under normal shooting conditions, it also can recycle quite a few times before the battery has to be recharged. It can be used in straight auto mode by setting the aperature to one of the available choices or if you have a camera that can operate in the TTL mode, it reads the exposure at the film plane. This can be very handy when using filters or in fill flash situations. These units are quite high $$$ if purchased new, but their life expectancy seems to be quite long and it can be used heavily. It can also be part of a home studio with other options that are available. It can also be used in various bounce modes with the head able to tilt and rotate in various directions. It is heavy to carry around with its separate battery, but that is the way it has to be so you can take advantage of its power and maintain short recycle times.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I shoot weddings and using my sb800 just doesnt cut it. It cant give me the power I need. I work in Hawaii and have to shoot couples on a beach, high noon, no clouds, on the white Hawaiian sand! Talk about an exposure to make your eyes bleed! But using my Metz, i can shoot F13 1/250 and have the flash remove the shadows no problem at all. Using the Nikon flash, its like no flash at all! Also using the dry fit batteries, I can just pop flash after flash w/out having to wait for the recycle light to come on. It recycles just about as fast as you can fire it. Only negative is the Metz 60 series uses an external battery pack that hangs over your shoulder. The 45 series has the battery in the bottom of the handle, making it much easier but with less power/ slower recycle time. Another bonus using the Metz 60 is that I can bounce my flash off high ceilings or walls w/out worrying. It has a mini fill flash in the front to fill in the shadows so you get natural looking light in every shot. Conclusion: I wouldnt trade my Metz for any other flash! You can pick up a used one off Ebay for $120-$300 all the time!Vollständige Rezension lesen
