Here's a John Wayne movie where John Wayne is not the star of the movie. He's listed as #2 on the billing but he's actually #3. For John Wayne fans that's enough to make it a good choice. It's all about WW2 and the fall of Paris and it's a good take on that. Take a look at it. It is worth the effort. I recommend it.

This another great John Wayne movie where Joan Crawford is the actual leading role. Excellent depliction of France right before and during the Nazi-occupied era, where this movie shows the hatred of the Germans, and the arrogance of the Nazi soldiers and their families. John Carradine also plays an SS Officer in his usual manner, which keeps you wondering what surprises he will add to the storyline. Phillip Dorn does an excellent performance and an industrialist who caters to the Nazis while still loving his fiance (Joan Crawford) and protraying Judas to his fellow Frenchmen. This is a great movie and I really enjoyed following Joan Crawford's experiences during this terrible time in world history.
I enjoyed this movie very much. The stars were young and in their prime. It was easy to see how the movie would be enjoyed by the women since Ms. Crawford always looked glamorous, and her relationship with the downed pilot played by John Wayne seemed complex and interesting. It might be Hollywood happily-ever-after movie, but that is why I often watch a movie. I want to get away for awhile and see life as others live it. For me, the movie was a treat! I enjoyed the escape of not mowing the yard or washing windows. Of course, I could watch Joan Crawford in anything and enjoy it.
Great stars!
