The problem with the Dyatlov Pass incident is that it cannot be solved. Accurate details regarding the deaths of nine ski tourists in 1959 were most likely falsified and/or suppressed by the Soviet government. Author McCloskey acknowledges this in MOUNTAIN OF THE DEAD. Then he goes on to propose each theory, concluding each synopsis with the statement that this cannot be true because the theory does not match the evidence. The problem? If the evidence was tampered with, as most Dyatlov researchers believe, then all bets are off. You can't conclude that the party was not murdered by the military, the KGB, the Mansi tribe, or a Yeti, because no footprints of any humans/Yeti were found, and then turn around and say the footprints could have been brushed away and the scene staged to look like something else. If that's the case, and no supposed evidence can be trusted, then literally any solution is possible. MOUNTAIN OF THE DEAD adds no new information to the real-life mystery. Everything in this book can also be found on the internet. The book is dry reading, with typos and grammatical errors. Internet sites explore the tragedy in more depth, in a more entertaining manner.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Provides several likely theory's as to what happened. No Bigfoot or Sasquatch ideas, but actually plausible situations.
