I have used the MP53 now for a few seasons configured with standard loft and lie. DG RS300 shafts R-Flex. I personally love a muscle back iron for the feedback they provide in both feel and sound. Unlike game improvement irons the feedback is rather honest. Hitting the sweet spot is a distinct sound. The irons will perform flawlessly when hit correctly and are less forgiving when not hit well. The trajectory of the clubs in general is not ballooning, rather a linear progressive arc. I had to take this into consideration depending on the condition of fairway or greens. Well balanced, very responsive to shot shaping the Mizuno performance is stellar if the swing is there. Not a true blade, but not far from it. These are not for high handicappers. If you hit your 7 iron 165+ then you fit into the category of golfer who will benefit from this excellent iron set. Work with a PGA pro to determine the proper shaft for this iron. It will make all the difference.Vollständige Rezension lesen
The MP-53's are great! I moved up from a set of MX-17/19's and these irons are as easy to hit and almost as forgiving. Solid struck balls fly off the faces. Like a lot of you I worry about counterfeit clubs on EBay. I checked this recently purchased set of Mizuno MP-53's (4-9 w/Project X 5.0 Graphite Shafts) through the company utilizing a Serial # and description and found that they were indeed the genuine article. Prior to purchase I did my homework and contacted the company and provided them with a description of the clubs to ensure that the number of irons as well as the grip/shaft combination was being manufactured and found that my configuration was a special order. Bottom line is if it looks suspicious, it just might be. I have learned that price may not be a good indicator as I have purchased iron sets and saved $200-$300 dollars and I have also sold merchandise at a significant savings from time to time.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Very solid clubs. Had a set of MP 32's and switched to these after many years. Cannot believe the improved technology at work! Very forgiving yet looking down at the clubs at address one would never realize how much forgiveness is there. KBS shafts provide improved feel and feedback compared to the heavy dynamic gold shafts I was used to. Very forgiving clubs. However, they remain easily workable like a forged iron should be. Hit many punches, cuts, hooks, and draws without issue. Love these clubs!
I am real happy with these MP-53 irons. I got them with True Temper Dynalite Gold R300 Sensicore shafts. These shafts are lighter than Dynamic Gold by about 15 grams and I really can feel the differance. I have an average swing speed but am a good ball stiker so I wanted an iron with a softer shaft but I also wanted minimal offset which is what this iron/shaft combination offers. I may buy another set to stash seeing how often Mizuno phases out styles. One thing I would have liked is a satin finish instead of the chrome which gets nicked up quickly. That finish is only available in Europe for now.
I bought 4-PW heads, and installed KBS C-Taper shafts in them. Between the famous Mizuno "buttery" feel, and the amazing feel of the KBS Shafts, these are the best feeling irons I have ever owned. The shafts have a great satin finish that looks good up against the satin cavity and clubface of the MP-53s. The 360 grind of these clubs is amazing, and completely hides the size of the clubhead, causing it to look more blade-like. It also improves turf interaction if you are more of a sweeper than a digger. Overall, these irons are great for anyone 0 to 14 handicap.
