There are a lot of people who write books on survival. Most of them boil down to take your tent and cook stove and a couple of tarps and lots of canned food and go forth to survive. One guy even said that you would starve to death trying to live on rabbit. I grew up eating rabbit and lived to tell the tale so I threw that one out. when I found Tom Browns book on survival it towered above any other work on the subject, not just because it was so filled with great method, but because the prose was so well written, understandable and authentic. this book on tracking is similar in its authenticity, but because he actually teaches the subject to people who live or die on the accuracy of his words its the authority you need. that would be reason enough to take the book home and use it to learn how, but the clarity of the teaching, the presentation of what should be simple and isnt is sublime. The odd thing about any instrucion manual is that most of them dont teach. instead the instructor shows off how smart he is and how stupid you are... tom brown teaches you that the complexities provided by the concept are things you can master sequentially, he starts with slow obvious items that you have seen a thousand times and never paid attention to then builds to the place where you can look at the tracks before you and see a living breathing person striding in a real world hearing a bird on his left and veering to check something out on the right and how quickly he turns or whether he is looking up or down...you see how fast or slow he walks and even the state of health of the person who passed. If he turns you know which direction and how far and have a great idea of where to look for his next track. This book is really what you need... pay any price ,rob or steal it if you have an interest, bludgeon it from a possesor.Vollständige Rezension lesen
