Product Information

To say that Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT is the best comic book adaptation does the film a bit of a disservice. It may be a Batman film, but this isn't a kid-friendly action movie full of the bams and pows of the original series. This is a pitch-black thriller with enough drama and tragedy to please even William Shakespeare, but it will certainly keep both comics fans and uninitiated audiences equally happy. THE DARK KNIGHT starts in the wake of BATMAN BEGINS: with the appearance of Batman (Christian Bale), Gotham City's criminal underworld is unnerved. They're also plagued by the new D.A., Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), who, in his quest for justice, remains above the city's corruption. Enter a new villain, the Joker (Heath Ledger), who wants to unite the criminals for a common purpose: to kill Batman.THE DARK KNIGHT is one of the most hyped movies to date, and a lesser film would be crushed under the weight of all that expectation. Some of the publicity stems from the early death of Ledger, who turns in an excellent performance. He provides moments of humor, but this Joker is terrifying, sharing more with classic villains such as Hannibal Lechter than with his comic book predecessors. Eckhart is equally good as Dent, and Maggie Gyllenhaal deserves praise for taking over the role of Rachel Dawes from Katie Holmes. Though there's more emphasis on plot and character development than in most comic book adaptations, that doesn't mean Nolan has skimped on any of the action sequences. Each set piece is done perfectly, leaving the audience breathless. THE DARK KNIGHT is filmmaking at its best; its subject matter may be dark and depressing, but it's tough not to feel exhilarated by its artistry when the credits begin to roll.

  • Don't Miss This If You Can Help It.

Funny but, this is the first Batman feature film that doesn't incorporate the word "Batman" in its title. There never has been a more exciting time in my life when The Dark Knight showed up at the Box Office. I paid my ticket and then sat back and enjoyed the film better than ever. The reason I enjoyed this movie so much was that, before now, the Batman series of films seemed much more comic book than mimicking real life. The Dark Knight seems to somehow capture the essence that should always exist in the handover from comics to the big screen. Christian Bale really didn't carry this film to greatness; it was The Joker (Heath Ledger) who made the film extraordinarily real in the sense that the criminal elements came together and alive on film with a burst of originality. Bruce ...

  • Best...Comic...Movie...EVER.

The Dark Knight is stunning, in every sense the word. Whether you look at the acting, the directing, the writing, or any other aspect of the movie, it's hard to find a weak point. Nolan returns to do another incredible job at directing, and once again raises the bar for the Batman series. He creates a perfect balance between having The Dark Knight be a drama about the characters in it and an action-packed crime saga. The acting alone is terrific. Christian Bale is a natural as Bruce Wayne, and also makes the best Batman I've seen yet, and by his side is Michael Caine, who just seems to fit perfectly as Alfred. Maggie Gyllenhaal does quite well as Rachel and Aaron Eckhart pulls off the transformation from Harvey Dent to Two-Face. Gary Oldman playing Gordon deserves an honorable mention. ...

  • The Dark Knight :)

This movie was great. One of the best batman movies yet. I used to leave a theatre after seeing a highly anticipated movie, specifically a sequel, and be so revved up about what I saw that I would declare that movie to be the best of a series. After each of the prequel "Star Wars" films, I rated that one the best, as good as any of the originals...for a time, until my opinion balanced out and I had a more well-rounded take. For that reason, I steer away from that mindset, and did for "Dark Knight". Though my opinion is solidifying already after having seen a Warner Bros. screening last night, "Dark Knight" ably stands on its own with or without "Batman Begins". At a two and a half hour runtime, it's definitely an epic of a movie, but one that never runs out of gas. A delightful addition ...

  • The Dark Knigt Rules!!!

Comic book fans brace yourself for the best Marvel Movie ever!! This is Heath Ledger's greatest role OF his career. Too bad it's his last role. In this movie Batman deals with the dark side within him. The Joker has no prombles dealing with his. He either blows it up or kills it. It is about time the Batman movies follow the comic book stories questioning mankind's deep dark side in us all. Like should he kill or not. How far is too far when dealing with crooks, killers and nuts(The Joker for example). THIS IS A MUST SEE MOVIES.
