The 1942 is one of the three most common Walking Liberty half dollars in uncirculated and Gem condition, along with the 1943 and 1946-D. The typical 1942 is very well struck. Luster can be very frosty as many original uncirculated rolls were saved.
The 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin shows the beauty of a United States coin after being in circulation for several years. The profile of Lady Liberty's face and hair show a little of her features, however, now could be many women's appearance from antiquity until today, that makes it relevant. The coin has her arm outstretched that is still looking like the correct 3D shape. The flag behind her still has the stars shining. The sun's rays are distinct. The upper part of her dress continues to show her figure and the lower part of her skirt shows the fabric gently flowing in her stride, with the lines showing. The date and mint are clear. The American Eagle on reverse has his wings ready to fly in a defensive stance. The details of the feathers still visible, though somewhat abstracted at the higher points of silver. It looks like we could be under its wing, protective of the people and the constitution of the United States. The precious coin is like a good wine that gets better with age. A careful and thought out design that stands the test of time!Vollständige Rezension lesen

The 1942 Walking Liberty Half-Dollar in an MS-65 PCGS or NGC holder is a sound investment. There are multiple layers to consider. The first being, buying PCGS or NGC guarantees authenticity which is important with so many counterfeited coins out there. Secondly, 1942 was the first year the U.S. began their involvement in WWII which makes the piece historic. Third, MS-65 a.k.a. "Brilliant Gem Uncirculated" is an exceptional grade and worthy of purchase, even with such a high mintage number on this piece, not all remain in such pristine condition. Lastly, eye-appeal -- you want to make sure the coin you're purchasing is visually pleasing to the eye (everyone has a different taste). You can get an MS-65 example that has ugly black/brown toning which I would advise against purchasing. However, I was able to find a brilliant blast white blazer that was easy on the eyes and looked flashy and lustrous. To conclude, consider the above factors and you have yourself a valuable purchase.Vollständige Rezension lesen

It's not easy to to find Walking Liberty Half Dollars (1916-1947) that aren't heavily worn. If you can find them in About Uncirculated (AU) condition at a reasonable price they make a Good Investment. Each coin contains .3617 of an ounce of silver which means they will always have value as a precious metal. In addition, for coin collectors or enthusiasts, seeing the unworn lines and images clearly is an added bonus when Walkers can be found in the higher grades (XF, AU, UNC). You can always expect to realize a premium above the value of the silver for the higher grade when you choose to sell. With interest rates for savings accounts ridiculously low, why not invest some of your hard-earned money in something that has real value? I'm NOT a dealer and don't submit this review with any profit motive. I simply love beautiful old coins and Walkers are as beautiful as they get in my humble opinion. from Ebay=dewberrynewVollständige Rezension lesen

Every serious US coin collector should have the Walking Liberty Half Dollars in his/her collection. As for this group I was able to buy as a trio, it was an excellent purchase and added quality as well as value to my collection. I highly recommend this group in MS63 or better. Don't pass up the opportunity to add these whenever they are made available for purchase. An excellent purchase. Thanks for the nice addition to my collection.

This was a great gift for my Dad who has everything. It is well made, works good and looks cool... I bought one with my birth year on it too and will also buy one for each of my boys.

This graded coin is a good way to invest in silver and a collectible coin. The Walking Liberty half is generally regarded as one of the most beautiful of U.S. coins. It is fairly easy to build a collection of graded halves from this period. The demand for this coin seems consistent, and its value has held constant despite the fluctuation in the price of silver. Overall, a beautiful coin to collect and invest in.

This coin epitomizes everything beautiful about the Walking Liberty half dollar. It's flawless, looking like it just came off the press. It's everything I could ask for to set the tone for my Walking Liberty collection. Oh for more coins of this quality at reasonable prices.

The walking liberty has to be the most beautiful coin ever issued by the US. Everyone should own at least a couple of these coins (including current silver bullion one dollar coins). This one was in excellent condition and a great buy. We like to give coins to our kids in their birthday cards.

The 1942 MS 65 I specifically purchased has a very unique tone to it, almost purplish. A nice coin overall, great classic design on both Obverse and Reverse.

I get a lot of junk mail advertising coin collecting. The prices seemed ridiculous. I came to ebay hoping for a better deal and found it. This is a real beauty and cost much less than I thought.
