I bought this for my daughter who was going on holiday to far east. I am afraid she could not use it because the battery did not hold charge. Unfortunately, I only found out yesterday when she got back. Way too late to ask for a refund. I understand it is too late and I am not going to ask for any money. However, I am going to give a negative review, not to the seller but to the item. People need to know these items have batteries which do not work anymore.

TomTom Start 25 a good choice for European driving
I bought TomTom Start 25 Europe for a house hunting expedition in Spain. The reassurance of not getting lost in a country where I don’t speak the language well plus the extremely strict and rigidly enforced traffic penalties are enough to worry about. The large and well illuminated screen and fast boot-up made it easy to locate and drive to multiple locations, though itinerary planning is absent from this model. Lane guidance however is present and is very useful on the excellent Spanish motorway system, which allows you to get in lane in plenty of time, particularly useful at busy times and approaching cities. This is an excellent device which is straightforward to use and reliable, however there are a couple of issues to be aware of. In very hot weather (direct sunlight), the unit can ... I bought TomTom Start 25 Europe for a house hunting expedition in Spain. This is an excellent device which is straightforward to use and reliable, however there are a couple of issues to be aware of. In very hot weather (direct sunlight), the unit can power down due to the battery overheating which is easily fixed by running the demist on cold if the unit is screen mounted, to be fair, this only happened once. The unit may also power down if the charging plug is accidentally disconnected as the unit thinks that the engine has been turned off, just be careful not to allow this to happen (route the charging cable sensibly) or deselect the auto-off feature in the menu. Once you are used to the unit, the position of the “on” button, (which is round the back, and so out of sight) and have mastered the technique of attaching the integral suction holder to the windscreen, which takes a bit of practice TomTom Start 25 will be your best friend. Top tip, get a case. If the official TomTom one isn’t available, a Nintendo Game Boy case fits just fine, and has a little pocket for the charger plug and cable. If you are learning Spanish, the English voice guidance will attempt to pronounce the Spanish place names and provide you with entertainment as you drive. Haven’t needed to update maps yet (It warns me that mine are twenty four months old) but there have been no issues and map updates come free with this model. If you can live without Bluetooth (even using hands-free is probably illegal in Spain anyway!) TomTom Start 25 is an excellent choice for European driving, the lane guidance, free map updates and pocket friendly size make it hard to beat.

Easy to use but the IQ routes feature drives you mad!
Good clear display and all the info you need at the bottom on the screen, like ETA, your current speed, remaining time of journey etc, which is all useful. A range of voices to choose from for announcements. Road displays clear and accurate and it is useful to have a warning about speed cameras. However, the big downside of the TomTom in general is that they have introduced 'IQ Routes', which take you on back streets and lanes to avoid traffic lights and roundabouts. All very well, you might say, but pretty useless when you're towing a caravan! It does this ALL THE TIME, never taking you on the most straight forward route, and YOU CAN'T TURN THIS FEATURE OFF!!! I've done some research on TomToms because I was considering buying a higher spec model to avoid this, but EVERY TomTom on ... Great TomTom UK+Europe to get you from A to B. Very pleased with it.
My old TomTom (UK only) gave up the ghost, so I looked for a replacement, which I found on ebay. I bought it for a "buy it now" price, which was very acceptable, and received it very swiftly. It is a sturdy functional and easy to use gadget, with a choice of lots of voices, colours etc., and sits safely against the wind screen. It also has European maps, which is a bonus. This is a great sat nav to guide you while driving, and I am very pleased with my purchase indeed, and have used it a lot.My old TomTom (UK only) gave up the ghost, so I looked for a replacement, which I found on ebay. Does the job at a reasonable price
This is my first SatNav so I can't compare it with other makes and models but it 'does the job' as far as I'm concerned. It's really easy to use and the display and sound are very clear. It gives the actual names of roads which is a good feature but, from time to time, it doesn't give a verbal direction (especially when junctions are very close) but the display shows the route so it's not a problem. I would recommend it to anyone who just wants a simple unit to help find their way around.This is my first SatNav so I can't compare it with other makes and models but it 'does the job' as far as I'm concerned. It's really easy to use and the display and sound are very clear. Awesome product! Great value for money.
Bought product as the satnav in my Mercedes[ £161k] is useless. The product does everything that I need it to do and in my opinion is the best on the market and easy to use with excellent features.
