This book has the power to change not just your marriage but your life. In fact, it has deepened my respect for my husband and my appreciation for God's wisdom in instituting marriage to grow us, His church, into His Bride. I was intrigued by the small print on the cover that says,"What if God created marriage more not to make us happy but to make us holy?" I have read it, marked it all up, given a copy to just about everyone I love and have based a talk to the women in our church upon it. I believe it should be required reading of everyone ages 13 up to prepare them realistically for marriage. It shatters the postmodern world view of romance that is responsible for so many divorces and disfunctional marriages by giving a clear, scriptural picture of what God had in ... This book has the power to change not just your marriage but your life. Great Marriage Buy!
I bought this book because it was required reading for the seminary I attend. Out of the four books I was required to read, this is the most practical, well-written, and a glass of cold water compared to the others on marriage. The author grabs your attention, presents his arguments and points very well, uses bullseye analogies, and backs everything up with Scripture. This book is well-worth the money if you or someone you know needs biblical counseling in the realm of marriage. Very good book for marriages that have lasted three years and prior to ten. The book seems to target conservative males who are familiar with Scripture, but I would put in the hands of an unbeliever in a heartbeat if they asked for advice about their own marriage, male or female. I have only read the first ... I bought this book because it was required reading for the seminary I attend. There are few books that have 'changed' me, this is one of them. It made me a better husband.

Sacred Marriage Book for struggling Christians
After reading a dozen marriage books this year, I finally found one that offers practical advice to Christians who are struggling in marital difficulty. It is not about more communication and more affection and more leadership and more submission. Thomas is a serious Christian, and he speaks frankly about his own struggles in marriage, and how Biblical mandates have given him and his wife a roadmap. In our messed up culture where nobody knows what real marriage is anymore, this is critical teaching, and every reader will get some real advice he/she can put into practice to improve marriage. I highly recommend this book. It is encouraging and uplifting. There are study questions a couple can discuss together at the back, but if your spouse isn't interested, it is still a must ... This book was recommended by the minister doing our wedding. The book is easy to read and contains great discussion questions for each chapter. Reading and discussing the book with my fiance has helped us to understand that what we expect from marriage may not be what God intended for marriage. I recommend the book for anyone who realized that romantic feelings, happiness, or good sex are not the ultimate goals in a marriage. If your looking for another purpose in your relationship read Sacred Marriage and consider what Gary has to say.This book was recommended by the minister doing our wedding.
