We bought this to replace one we'd had for over ten years (bought refurbished on eBay in 2004) which for unknown reasons began to "eat" batteries. We were totally familiar with its set-up and capabilities, and it was a pleasure to put it in service. We'd previously bought an Eton "Grundig" radio, billed as the G-2000A's replacement, and had to return it because of its wholly inadequate manual that frustrated our every attempt to make it work. By way of example, there were control buttons on the radio that weren't mentioned *at all* in the manual. WTF!?

I had one these Grundigs for several years. Worked well within reason. Excellent reception if your in a major city . Finally gave it to my son who continues to use it on occasion. Purchased another one last year just for fun. Practical and small for hiking, backpacking hunting, picnicking etc. German design, however, was made in China.

Have owned 2 of this model. First was stolen and power button on second one broke several years ago. The second I bought in 2000, so it lt lasted a fair amount of time for daily use. Was glad to find this! As when the other one broke couldn't locate one anywhere online.

virtually no shortwave reception, I bought a cheap Retekess radio for 10 bucks that has five times the sensitivity . Own a Realistic dx302 and a Knight kit star Roamer I built in the 70s. Mercury
