A must-see for action/adventure and Greek myth fans !
My only nag is that Clairisse doesn't appear whatsoever in this film and that Luke takes full credit for stealing Zeus's thunder (minor on the whole as the whole film is concerned), but this is a tremendous movie. Admittedly the books are better but honestly I adore this movie, especially Grover and his hysterical antics. Not certain if 'Sea of Monsters' is greenlit and the little errors in this first installation, but even if not, I'm simply happy seeing one of my favorite books become an epic masterpiece. If you like Harry Potter..
I Think you will like this story. I was reluctant to watch this at first. I had never heard of the books. I used to enjoy Greek Mythology when I was younger and I instantly got drawn in when I started to watch this movie. It is PG so it is not too intense for a younger viewer (I have a 9 year old who does not like creepy/scary movies; he was a little scared at a first but he said it wasn't too scary once he started watching it) but it has enough action and spooky scenes that even my teenager enjoyed. Percy Jackson is a not so average teenager with some major problems. It's not until his substitute teacher turns into a 'fury' and attacks him, claiming he stole Zeus's lighting bolt, that he finds out he's actually a Demi-God (half human, half god). Turns out his father, Poseidon, and Zeus are constantly fighting, and just recently, someone stole Zeus's lighting bolt, and because Poseidon himself can't steal another Gods stuff, that only leave Percy Jackson. But how can he prove his innocence and find out who really is the lighting thief? Fast paced, full of action and humor at every turn, this has already become a favorite in my household. There were no slow parts, and not much was left out from the novel. Though it is aimed more for a younger ... Percy Jackson is a not so average teenager with some major problems. The acting itself is Grade A, and Logan Lerman was a great choice for playing Percy Jackson. If anyone has seen any of his other work though, you would already know he's really good.
