Excellent value, particularly on Pentax that has built in shake reduction. F2.8 makes a big difference in viewing and flexibility for low light. I purchases mine used, which made it a great value of the money spent, but Tamron lenses generally are worth the money. In the 'day' Tamron has built lenses for many of the Camera manufacturers, including Minolta. Their guarantee is still the best around. This lens is no exception. I am enjoying its value.

If you can put up with the camera trying to figure out where to focus you will love this lens. My only complaint may be with my camera. I find the lens to be like a good inexpensive prime lens across it's zoom range, with the wide end just off a good expensive prime. I thing that is exceptional since I got this lens new for $239. The lens is a lot of fun to use. I took a shot at 17mm straight out of my K5.

It's a great lens! Sharp images even with low light thanks to a constant F2.8 aperture . When used on Pentax Cameras, as they have the Shake Reduction built in the Camera Sensor, it becomes an excellent lens!

I had bought a used 17-50mm f2.8 Sigma lens in Canon mount at a photo show several years ago and always wanted one in Nikon mount. Both of these are non-OIS lenses which are of course preferable. But these are still sharp excellent lenses, but you need to increase ISO for hand-holding in poorer light.

The auto-focus motor on my Pentax 16-45mm failed after years of use, I replaced it with this wonderful Tamron lens. It is sharp and works better in low light and is a great bargain. Seems to stand up against lenses over $1000.
