Do you enjoy wine? Would you like to learn more about wine to enhance your enjoyment but are intimidated by the absolute blizzard of information about wine? Do you "wine people" seem like arrogant poofs? Help is here. John Cleese's Wine for the Confused is determinedly anti-snob. Mr. Cleese seems unable to be anything other than smart, funny, and completely on the viewer's side. Mr. Cleese introduces the main varieties of grapes used to make much of the wine available in the USA. He travels to several vineyards near his home to talk to the people who make the wine. And he hosts a blind wine tasting in his own backyard with expensive and less-expensive bottles to prove that the best tasting wine is not always the most costly. The video is suffused with Mr. Cleese's dry wit and with an unfained love and enjoyment of wine that he wants to share. Though budget constraints limit the geographic scope of the video to California vineyards, the knowlege presented covers most popular varietals.. This is a great video for people who are just beginning to learn about wine. I have bought copies for relatives.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I didn't get to see this on the Food Network so ordered the DVD. I thought maybe Cleese was going to do a Monty Python bit on wines, but he takes his part serious....to a point! He explains in very common language, and with less confusion, how to drink, and buy wines. It is not all straight laced...how could it be with Cleese? This is what makes it enjoyable and fun and you do learn a lot! For the wine impaired, this is your DVD!
Excellent DVD. John Cleese was great as in his past work. It was wonderful that he filmed in California, our home state. A great product.
Great DVD and worth every dime...what any wine lover would enjoy...Great EBAY deal as well...Cheers Mike
We have a wine education group for couples at our house once a month and I still learned a few things from this DVD.
