For fans of the multiplayer arcade classic, Midway throws down the Gauntlet once again, with this 3D hack-and-slash RPG that supports as many as four in its cooperative play modes and offers a number of online features as well. Although it takes place in a fictional, fantasy realm, the adventuresome tale of Seven Sorrows incorporates the events of earlier Gauntlet games, and is grounded in legend and subconscious symbolism. In old times, as the story goes, there were four immortal heroes who sought to destroy a cruel, insane king. They failed, and three were sentenced to death by crucifixion. Yet they -- or at least, their spirits -- next find themselves transported to the realm of the cruel king's own insanity. Here, they learn that the king is afflicted by the great emotional pain of seven deadly acts of cruelty, including the murder of his lover. The heroes now must adventure through the madman's psyche, to undo these seven sins, before his insanity unleashes chaos and destruction across the entire kingdom.

Still All Kinds Of Fun
I am a big fan of the Gauntlet games, and since I am working my way through "Dark Legacy", I decided to give this one a try as well. This is not too radically different from your typical Gauntlet game; lots of monster generators and tons of minions pouring out to dogpile on you until you can smack them down, chests full of food and gold, an annoying narrator telling you "Warrior needs food, BADLY!" and "Warrior is ABOUT TO DIE!", the classic Gauntlet features. Where it differs is that there is a connecting story line where your characters have to reclaim a kingdom from mutated monsters that were once the King's advisors, so instead of just rampaging about killing everything in sight, you have to rampage about killing everything in sight to get to the goal of freeing the kingdom. That, the ... I am a big fan of the Gauntlet games, and since I am working my way through "Dark Legacy", I decided to give this one a try as well. That, the graphics, and the overall feel of the game is very reminiscent of "God of War", though with a simpler storyline. Yes, it does take a considerably shorter amount of time to beat this game, and you know what? Doesn't bother me too much at all. It strikes me as having a beginning, middle, and end, which is not a bad thing to me. The boss battles are not too hard, either, which doesn't bother me too much; this is not "God of War", to reference that game again. The ending battle, once you've played it a couple times, is easy enough, but the ending itself could be far better. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses, and the Elf is by far the weakest of the four characters to choose from here. Long story short, this is a good quick fix game for a dose of mindless fun and action, and I'm enjoying it enough, myself.

Bought this item because we are die hard fans of the Guantlet series of arcade games from way back (Ninetendo, Arcades, Playstation & PS2)! Kids love the co-op play modes! Hours of endless fun! Captivating role playing game battling monsters, ogres, etc., especially for groups of 2-4! Long overdue release of an updated version for modern platforms! Wonderful 3-D gaming environments! New great improvements to the game playability! Easier to select option items during game play! Numerous possible scenarios! Role playing games provide hours of endless play options! The controller improvements are much better with layout and functionality! Although there is always room for new improvements and/or up-grades...hopefully there will be more! Gauntlet is revised
Gauntlet seven sorrows has your same aspect of the original as far as it being a multiplayer game. However the concept has changed. There is no mystery, stones or even real difficulty in this one. The original Gauntlet took a little time for me to complete, however this one was defeated in less than 3 hours. There is a corney break between each level that shows and tells you of your next boss. I was actually dissappointed that I purchased this one. Save your money and rent from the local blockbusters if you just want to defeat it once and be done. For a challenge buy it and try to defeat it in the Impossible level. However it says impossible, it still can be defeated!! The game is rather short! Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows Review
This game has awesome graphics. It's really different from the previous version of Gauntlet. I was very impressed. I do have a few peeves however. First, the game is not that challenging. My son and I played on impossible and beat the game fairly quickly. Second, the creators should have made it possible to upgrade armor / weapons by picking it up or having a shop (like Champions Of Norrath...I know...2 different games but it would have been nice). Lastly, the only way to know how to execute your purchased special moves is to look at the booklet. No option to see the button combo to do a move...this is something that should be basic so I was quite shocked to see it was omitted. not a worthy game for the Gauntlet series
Ah where to begin, so much was done wrong with this game. The story line: You are apparently an immortal hero who was betrayed by your king who attempted to steal your immortality. You are revived basically to fix everything that this king screwed up. No grand "Save the world from some horrible evil" plot line, just a fix the stupid kings mistakes by killing his advisors. Also, when you consider that these advisors are the ones who are responsible for your imprisonment you would think that this would be a good plot. Revenge is fun right, well this is one of the first times I've ever seen a revenge plot line screwed up. Difficulty: The game is far too easy to beat. Boss Battles: The bosses are way too easy. The first one is a scare crow surrounded by flaming pots. I think I counted maybe ... Ah where to begin, so much was done wrong with this game. In all of the other boss battles you basically ran around, killed some of his minions, flipped some switches, and that killed the boss. The generators. First they always look the same. The entire game through. The scenery may be completely different surrounding them, but they look almost, if not exactly the same. Second, the enemies do not come out of the generators, they teleport in around the stupid things. Even if there are 6 generators 5 of which you have destroyed they still teleport in around the 5 destroyed generators until you destroy the sixth. Zoom Level - The zoom level for this game is similar to that of Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms. Great for showing off artwork, stinks to play through though. Furthermore, it results in small levels - yet another problem the game has. Camera Control - you have none. This wasn't an issue in the original Gauntlet Legends, or even Gauntlet Legends: Dark Legacy because they gave you a birds-eye view of the battle field. In a game where you are zoomed in like this control of the camera would be very nice. Buy Powerups - this element of the game is basically gone. Now you get to spend maybe one point - if you are lucky to improve your attack, health or mana regeneration. Sorry, but 1 point out of 20 possible translates into a 5% increase in any of these stats. That's not really enough to even bother with. Additionally, what you buy now are different combo moves. This would be fine if any combo moves were that impressive. I played as the valkerie and the only good combo move she had was one that sucked enemies in, damaged them, and threw them out away from her. This move, however, also cost mana. Combo's - While it is nice to rack up enough combo's to be called a demi-god or immortal, the fact that a combo basically seems to be defined by the game as hitting someone within so many seconds of hitting someone else really brings a downer to the idea of a 40+ hit combo. In summary if you want a game that is easy to beat rent it, do not buy it.
