BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!
Let's just get this out there first-- The one thing I don't like-- At startup, if you want to view the map while driving WITHOUT setting a destination, you have to click the "View Map" button or else it just stays at the "where to"/"View Map" screen. --Unless mine's messed up or there's some way around that I couldn't figure out because on the newer ones, if you start the car and don't click anything, it'll default right to the map--That aside, I have to remind myself I only got it FOR 25 BUCKS AT AUCTION. Now on to what I love -- My absolute favorite thing about the nuvi 200 is it's simplicity. It's SO EASY to use!! It's Garmin, so it has a great USER-FRIENDLY interface, unlike many other brands. (It's the Apple of GPS brands) On startup, it's ready to go in seconds. All you need to do ... I also love its size---its little, and I like that because it doesn't take up a lot of space on my windshield. This particular model is discontinued, but it still works just as well and is definitely not spartan-- it has at least 90% of the features on newer models. Most importantly, I can't stress enough about the value here! There's no reason to spend $150+ on new ones when you can get these things on eBay auctions for so cheap. If you don't want to spend a bunch of money but want a reliable and accurate GPS loaded great features, the nuvi 200 is the way to go.

Very good product
The nuvi200 is the first GPS I've owned. I enjoyed using it so much, that after it was stolen from my car, I purchased a replacement on ebay. It is a great beginner system with easy to use features, but it doesn't feel like anything is missing at all. I would give it an excellent ratting except for a few minor flaws. First, it takes a long time to "acquire satellite" before you can get directions. Second, it gets house numbers wrong alot, and third on major highways it often takes you to the wrong side of the road. I don't know if these are common to all GPS as this is the only one I've owned, and none of them kept me from re-purchasing this item. I have never had a problem finding any place that I asked it to help me find, and it has helped me out in more than one difficult ... The nuvi200 is the first GPS I've owned. Garmin GPS, the best starter GPS there is
This GPS is very easy to use and navigate. It has a smaller screen than many of the newer models, but the font is large and the touchscreen buttons are large and my fat fingers can easily press the right buttons. The only thing I don't like about it, is it's hard to program in favorites. You can easily type in a new address, but adding new favorites can get a little cumbersome. On occasion the device can take a while to locate satellites, but that is most likely due to location and not the fault of the device. You can pick a used one up for cheap, or a new one for about $100. If you're looking to get your first GPS, the Nuvi 200 is a good starter model.This GPS is very easy to use and navigate. Good entry-level navigator
The 200 model is at or near the bottom of the Garmin product line on features, and is about the least expensive. If your navigational needs are simple, it's a good choice. The feature that I would miss most if I used the 200 as my primary device is the text to speech feature. I like to hear "turn left on Main Street" instead of "turn left". However, it rarely causes confusion to omit the name, as you don't typically have two streets only a few feet apart. The 200 doesn't have the travel tools, like a currency converter or units of measure converter, or the frills like an MP3 player or a Bluetooth phone interface. If you really need those items, then you'll need a higher-end unit, but for most everyday driving they aren't likely to be used much. Besides that, everybody has a cell phone ... Good value for the money
I used to own the StreetPilot c320 and eventually sold it because I wanted something pocketable. At the time the Nuvi line of GPS's that Garmin came out with were over $700 and out of my budget. I waited and found a great deal on a TomTom ONE... I was on the fence about TomTom because I heard that they used TeleAtlas maps and they weren't as good as Garmin's Navteq maps. I wound up going with TomTom but never really felt as if it really had an accurate routing engine. Sure, it got me from point A to point B, but I never had any confidence that it was the best route like my old c320 did. Well, now Garmin comes out with their new 2x0 series of GPS and Amazon is selling it for only a few dollars over what I paid for my c320.. I am VERY happy to be back in the Garmin family of GPS's. For a bare bones GPS it's got a great screen, very polished UI, and my unit from Amazon came with City Navigator NA 2008 maps which I understand to be the latest 'v9' maps that are not even available yet from the Garmin site as of this writing. This is a super compact (smaller than TomTom ONE) GPS and with it comes the confidence factor that Garmin is so proficient at delivering. If you're sitting on the fence about a GPS, don't think twice about this unit. It's a solid buy and you won't be disappointed with your decision. My TomTom is on eBay and now I have a solid, reliable, and pocketable GPS that I'm very happy with.
