My absolute favorite mini-series
This is my absolute favorite mini-series, as it combines my two favorite subjects, history and baseball. THe performances are superb, the writing is crisp, the weaving of historic video and re-creations is excellent. It juggles the competing stories of cops pursuing "Sam" and Yankees pursuing glory with style, and has both sides commenting on the other. Stephen Lang may have the best line in the mini-series, reminding us that at that time, school teachers made 18 grand. A great cast: Alan Ruck, Josh Pais, Stephen Lang, Casey Siemasko, Ralph Lauria, JOe Grifasi, all inhabit their roles. I can't recommend this too highly to Yankee fans and history buffs.This is my absolute favorite mini-series, as it combines my two favorite subjects, history and baseball. The Bronx is Burning
This is a must-own for any New York Yankees fan. The actors portraying Jackson, Munson, Martin, and Steinbrenner are all tremendous. Each one does a nice job of capturing the essence of their true life subjects. Having read many (more than 10) books about the Steinbrenner-era that began in 1973, and this 1977 team specifically, I commend ESPN for staying true to the actual history of the season and the characters portrayed. To the unknowning viewer, the events portrayed will seem stranger-than-fiction in many instances. And that is precisely why this series was done! Prior to 1977 (and then 1978) actually occurring, nobody with a pen and paper could have scripted this stuff! That this team was able to win the World Series is truly a testament to the individuals themselves...the ... This is a must-own for any New York Yankees fan. Great Series to own
This set has a lot of insight into the New York Yankees of 1977. Not only do I get a good laugh, this series puts a spotlight on all the ups and downs with the team and around the city. All the emphasis put into this series makes it a reality you can immediately step into. The actors chosen really fit their parts. The actors that portrayed Billy Martin and George Steinbrenner nailed it. It's such a good series to own especially if your a baseball lover.This set has a lot of insight into the New York Yankees of 1977. Very Cool Set
I love the yankees & wanted to see the xtra bonus features. It also came with a neat yankees cap that says "1977 world champions" It was a great addition to my collection.

bronx is burning a must watch
great storylines ripped from the headlines that highlight the year 1977 in new york from the ny yankees and its run at the world series , the players and coaches stories , mixed in with the background of the great blackout and the son of sam killings....this is a great movie to add to your collection
