In the same vein as EDWARD SCISSORHANDS and NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, Tim Burton continues to combine wholesome comedy and creepy horror with this tale of a mild-mannered Victorian gentleman, Victor (Johnny Depp), who accidentally marries a mysterious corpse bride (Helena Bonham-Carter) instead of his intended, Victoria (Emily Watson). Victor soon discovers that the Land of the Dead holds more fun than frights and begins to fall in love with his innocent bride. Meanwhile, Victoria has been drawn into a scam of a marriage and may not escape with her life. As time runs out for everyone, can there be a resolution in which everyone gets what he or she deserves?Building on their past productive relationship (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, ED WOOD), Tim Burton and Johnny Depp create a colorful riot of a film that revives the increasingly rare method of stop-motion animation. Over the period of 10 years that Burton worked to complete the film, new techniques were created to speed the process, including a new way to change the character models' facial expressions by using gears in their heads. Of particular note is the lilting score by Danny Elfman, another longtime Burton collaborator. Fun for adults and children, CORPSE BRIDE is another welcome walk through Tim Burton's twisted mind.

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride
While certainly not as entertaining as as "Nightmare Before Christmas", Tim Burton's Corpse Bride is still well worth watching. I love the fact that it's a true stop-motion puppet film, and not computer animated. To me, this technique gives a sense of 3-D reality the computer doesn't quite capture. That said, this is the real reason to buy this DVD in the High-Definition format. Shot on High Definition cameras, watching the film is looking like through a window at the action. One of the best-looking Hi-Def DVD's out there. RecommendedWhile certainly not as entertaining as as "Nightmare Before Christmas", Tim Burton's Corpse Bride is still well worth watching. A super-classic in HD!!!
Tim Burton is definitely a Genius!!! Brilliant as always in this direction with a superb cast. A Dream Team Cast with a Dream Team Director. I recommend for everyone who read this review to acquire this Masterpiece from Burton. WhY? This HD-DVDs are getting more and more hard to find every single day. If you are a DVD Collector... Another Tim Burton Masterpiece!
Tim Burton films look like paintings - weird, surreal, crazy paintings. A young man is so nervous about his upcoming wedding that he goes out into the woods to rehearse the vows. He ends by slipping the wedding band into what he thinks is a branch, but turns out to be a skeletal hand. The hand belongs to a girl who was supposed to get married but is betrayed and she has been waiting for her true love to come and marry her. The corpse bride takes the young man down to her world as her husband and he has a choice to make - will he go back to his fiance or stay and honor his promise to the corpse bride? The "real" world is dark, gray and cold while the underworld is bright, colorful and full of music. The art direction is perfect - like usual in Burton's films. The voices include Johnny ... Corpse bride, best on hd-dvd
This is a true classic movie. Puppets instead of computer animation is a lost art and worth every second of viewing pleasure. The hd-dvd version has better picture quality than the blu ray version which is fantasic on the colored portions of the movie. The movie does not disappoint and both children and adults will enjoy it.

Good. HD makes it better.
This is a solid movie, not as good as NB4C, but strong Burton. What really jumped out at me was the HD quality. This may be one of the best I've seen on HD. The detail is almost too sharp. I even picked out a slight flaw on a finger of one puppet that would not be visible on standard DVD.
