This is a solid piece of metal and glass, and far outclasses the later Nikon 70-300 f/4-5.6G in both construction and image quality. NOTE: Nikon never made this lens in a 'D' configuration, so if you're holding out for one with that designator, you'll be waiting a very long time indeed. It's a push-pull zoom lens, with built-in tripod mount. It's also a screw-drive lens, meaning that it will autofocus only on those Nikon camera bodies with internal focus motors, like the D70, D200, D300, D700, etc. Autofocus is a tad slow on the D70, but just fine on the D200 and D300. Otherwise, it's a manual focus lens on the lesser Nikon camera bodies. The image quality, as tested on a D70, D200, and D300 is sharp and contrasty, with a pleasant bokeh. While heavier than current versions of similar focal length, it's a bargain in the used lens market.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This lens is surprisingly good, much better than expected results. A good lens to have in a camera bag,it is light weight and smaller in size than expected. Auto focus is fast and quite accurate,it is better for daylight shooting or with flash in low light conditions, this is to be expected with lenses in this F stop range. The 75-240mm range is a decent spread making it versatile while at the same time keeping the body of the lens small. The reason I got this lens was to have a general purpose lens which I can use any where and due to it's low cost I can use it in conditions that I might not want to use an expensive fast lens. In short these are a very good deal for the prices being obtained for them, and within there limits make for a very decent general purpose using lens.
This lens surprised me with how well it works for less than $100.00. It is very light weight making it a perfect walk around lens for people like me who take their camera on vacations and on the airlines when traveling. I bought it to take with me everywhere and I don't have to worry that it will get stolen or broken. Now, I can relax totally and enjoy traveling again which is something I love to do. I have had some expensive equipment stolen by airport baggage personnel. They no longer allow you to lock your valuable camera gear because of terrorism. This lens will not disappoint you if you purchase a used flash like the SB-400 another great performer for less than $100.00. This lens goes in my carry on luggage a few ounces. I take my AF-S 18-55mm along also and that covers anything the 80-200mm can't do, it is also light weight and both lenses use 52mm filters. I take a Tiffen UV, ND3 and a Polarizer filter. My friends thought I was taking my pro gear when traveling until I told them and showed them my camera travel bag. The bag weights less than 10 lbs and no longer has to be checked into baggage. Hopefully, this information will help you to plan your next vacation.Vollständige Rezension lesen
For well under $100, this is high quality glass in a very durable all-metal package, plus a built-in tripod mount. I use this on a D300s crop-sensor body as a 105-450 and on a full frame body if the 70-210 is not enough. The focusing is not the fastest but it is accurate and dependable, the color and contrast are excellent, and the sharpness is is very good even wide open. See Ken Rockwell's 2011 review. Like the Nikon 70-210 D zoom, this lens is a bargain. Of course there's no VR, but over 200mm I expect to be on a tripod anyway.

Only made for a short period during the dusk of the film camera, this lens is surprisingly light and sharp. Today is holds up pretty well as a 110-360mm equivalent on any Nikon Digital camera that has motor inside for Auto Focus. Small compact SLRs that only use AF-S lenses not apply. Grab one for you D50, D80, D90, D100, D200, D300 and be happy. I have one in the box, I bought new. It's NOT for sale.
