Nice heavy weight 90/10 wool blanket
Gave it 4 stars because it smelled like it came from a paint shop. Dry cleaned it once and the fumes dissipated somewhat but it might need a second wash to get rid of the smell. Came with a greasy type feel so I'm guessing it's a protective treatment for storage or for the elements? Anyhow, blanket performed well at 65 degrees until it dropped to 55 degrees with a 90% humidity. I think the moisture in the air allowed the cold air to impregnate the blanket more which had me battling conduction with the blanket itself. I was expecting more protection, but this isn't a $200 blanket. I'm going to give it 4 stars still with the value in mind and it truly is heavyweight at about 4lbs. Great around campfire or as additional thermal protection but not truly bushcraft quality as a stand ... Gave it 4 stars because it smelled like it came from a paint shop. Great blanket to bad it stinks really, really bad.
I love the fact that it's a good usable size and it dose weigh in at exactly 4.8 pounds. It's woven not pressed together and bonded. The blanket is a very good value but you won't be able to wrap up with it or throw it over a bed any time soon. When I opened the bag it came in the whole room was instantly filled with what smells like Diesel fuel. I have been airing it out as directed but the thing just stinks, so figure in the cost of dry cleaning when ordering because that smell is not fading fast by any means. I called Rothco and no one there could tell me what the smell was , they just come from India that way. I would give this blanket 5 stars if it didn't stink. I have washed this blanket and let it air 6x now the Diesel smell keeps coming back. I can't even keep it in the house. Cheap But Usable
The construction of this 80/20 wool blend has a fair number of weave irregularities. There is a strong chemical odor that comes from the flame retardand additive that makes it unusable indoors without its removal. It took several hand washings and long spin cycles to remove this oily substance, which resulted in the color dye fading. After reshaping, line drying, and ironing with a hot dry iron, the blanket is now usable and I am satisfied for its intended use. That said, I should have purchased another Pendelton which I loved from the moment I opened the package to now. You get what you pay for.The construction of this 80/20 wool blend has a fair number of weave irregularities. I bought 4 for an old fashioned bedroll, and what do you know they kept me warm all night. the only thing i would change would be to make them a little thicker. but great blankets.

Nice blanket, a little smelly
Nice blanket, a little smelly. Heavy weight blanket in good condition. It looks very nice. It does have a distinct, almost tarry, odor, probably some kind of preservative or pesticide. It did not go away with a light washing in Woolite. I have it hanging in the garage to air out, which should help and once it has been camping a couple of times the smell will be replaced with woodsmoke.
