Synopsis A reformed ex-convict and lowrider car aficionado kicks his beloved son out of the house after discovering that the boy has been living a secret life in Sundance Film Festival veteran Peter Bratt's heartfelt family drama. Che (Benjamin Bratt) is out of prison and on the straight and narrow. Still, every day is a struggle as he battles alcoholism and drives a bus in order to support his family. When the workday is done, Che and his friends, the "Mission Boyz," pass the time by restoring junked cars to mint condition. Feared by his peers yet deeply respected as the toughest Chicano on the block, Che is the kind of guy whose entire existence is defined by his macho reputation. There's no one in the world that Che loves more than his adolescent son, Jesse (Jeremy Ray Valdez), but both father and son are about to discover that love isn't exactly unconditional. Upon discovering that Jesse has been living a secret life, Che flies into a violent rage, assaulting the boy and kicking him out onto the street. Meanwhile, Che's attractive and headstrong neighbor Lena (Erika Alexander) challenges the ultra-macho gearhead to step back for a minute and take stock of the life he thought he had. Love this film. Reminds me of that scene that really seems quite realistic. Growing Gay in a Machismo Family isn't an easy one. But life goes on and thus this film really hits the marker. Great story line, too! Enjoy!~~~~~~Vollständige Rezension lesen
Being from a Latin Family this movie hits home in so many different ways. Each character plays his or her role better than those is a gay intrest film ever do. This is a story of a father and son from a Latin background adding the gang aspect into it should even peak intrest of other's more. Benjamin Bratt is outstainding in this film as are all of the acters. There are many unknown in the fim but you will not be upset at all that you view or buy this dvd. It is a top rate fim that I five 4 1/2 stars. Bravo Peter Bratt director well done!
I couldn't believe it when 5 minutes into the movie I find out Pratt's who's just out of prison that his son has an illness. I couldn't watch a movie like this. And the description is not accurate! And Pratt can't play a cholo, it's just not real, you need a former homeboy to play these types of parts, or the actors have to have the "Tough" hard look!

This movie has it all- Scenic San Francisco, low riders, Benjamin Bratt and the entire cast give a stellar performance in a story of a young hispanic male having to come out to his Father. For those with struggles of this type, this movie would be truly instrumental. A real must see for young men and parents coping with a child coming out and acknowledging his sexuality. By the way, the cars are great too. Did I mention that? I would be curious to hear other reviews. This is 5 out of 5 stars in my book.
I didn't know that the dvd was coming from a library. But its ok, the film is in good shape. I'm enjoying the movie very much.
