Banjo-Tooie adds more from its predecessor. With more worlds, more spacious levels, and a brilliant story (along with the amazing musical stylings of Grant Kirkhope). It’s almost a perfect sequel that’s fun and has a much darker tone than the original

I bought this game for my 5 and 6 year old grandchildren. I used to play it with their mother and we absolutely loved it! Now my grandchildren are just enthralled with it too. I am so happy to have found it here. It's an oldie, but a goodie

Banjo and Kazooie are back in "Banjo-Tooie" the slightly darker sequel to the ever-popular Banjo-Kazooie for the N64! The word "sequel" typically has a bittersweet ring to it: it can either mean "more of a good thing" or "too bad it wasn't as good as the fist," and unfortunately the latter is far more common. Banjo-Tooie, however, doesn't fall short of the first, but rather, exceeds it many areas. To make it easier to understand just how good this game is, I'll just break it down into categories. Gameplay (5/5): This game is huge. In the original there were 10 levels, and in this game there are 9, but don't let that trick you into thinking this is any less of a game, or shorter for that matter. Each level is massive, and each jiggy is a challenge to get. Not only are there big (and I mean big), new levels to explore, but you start out on the original Spiral Mountain, and can even re-visit Grunty's Castle's lobby area (you can't go elswhere in the castle, but it's understandable, for memory reasons, and story-based reasons); revisiting old areas rarely occurs in other games, and was definately welcome in this one. Also, you start out with all of your original moves, including flying, using running shoes, wading boots, and invincibility. Many new moves have been added as well. Sound/Music (5/5): Just as it was in Banjo-Kazooie, the music is very catchy; the original title screen and pause menu music were kept, but there is a new overworld theme and world music. Replay value (5/5): A multiplayer has been added to this already awesome game, creating even more replay value than it already had. At certain points in the game, Banjo and Kazooie can also be played independantly of each other, and Mumbo Jumbo is also playable. All in all this is a great game, a game that's tough to fit into a review. If you've played Banjo-Kazooie (and preferably beaten in, since this picks up where the first one left off; 2 years after, actually, but I don't want to give away any plot points), this is definately a necessary addition to your N64 library.Vollständige Rezension lesen
After playing through Banjo-Kazooie, I decided to pick up the second game in the series: Banjo-Tooie. BT is MUCH larger than BK, and you can feel lost pretty easily within the game world. Puzzle complexity is also at it's height here, as every level requires twice as much effort than BK to complete. This is not the type of game you can just pick up and play, as it requires an absolute commitment to complete. If you let this game sit for two weeks, you may find that you can't remember what to do next when you pick it up again. Adding to the massive game world is another huge amount of moves to learn. Also worth noting is that when starting BT you have ALL the moves from BK available to you right at the beginning. Again, this is a bit overwhelming to the newly initiated, but a short tutorial stage right at the start will bring you up to speed. That said, if you are a fan of platform adventure games (Super Mario 64, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter)you will find this game extremely enjoyable. It is my favorite in game company RARE's lineup of adventure games for the N64 and is a perfect definition of RARE's signature bizarre, hilarious and cartoon world of game development.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This game is one of the most impressive games on the Nintendo 64, with a giant overworld, enormous levels, detailed environments, fantastic lighting, and an unbelievable amount of content. It's a great continuation to the 1998 classic Banjo-Kazooie, but it does necessarily surpass the original game. At times the game can get a bit tedious with it's back-tracking, and the size of the game can easily get overwhelming. Due to Banjo-Tooie's impressive and immense content, the game does suffer from major slowdowns at times. All in all, Banjo-Tooie is a great game to check out, especially if you liked the first one.
I bought this game because I never had a chance to play it when I was younger. I was always disappointed about that. But recently I bought some new cords for my N64 because the old ones had been damaged, and I played through Banjo Kazooie again. After I was done, I decided I definitely wanted to pick up Banjo Tooie and see what it was like. I have to admit, I didn't like the game at first. Banjo Tooie has a darker tone than Banjo Kazooie and I didn't like that. I also didn't like the more generic looking graphics, and the fact that a mole was the one introducing you to new items. (In the original Banjo Kazooie, whenever you got a new item for the first time, such as a music note or a Christmas tree light, the item would introduce itself to you with it's very own voice.) Just little things like that bothered me, because it made the game lose some of it's charm. It didn't help that when I got to the first level, it was so huge that I had no idea what I was doing. I was starting to regret buying the game, but regardless, I had paid money for this game and I was going to see it through to the end. Then on the third level, the game completely turned around for me. I loved that level and found myself...having fun! I almost didn't want to unlock the next one, for fear that I wouldn't enjoy the next one nearly as much as the one I was currently on. But I unlocked it and enjoyed that level too, and the next one. I really like the game now and am glad I got it. I even revisited the first two levels which I didn't care for, and liked them upon returning to them. So all I can say is that this game is definitely worth getting. If you're bored in the beginning, keep playing, it will pick up!Vollständige Rezension lesen
Good game. But taking a while to take off for me. The game world is much larger and therefore takes more time to get into things. Not quite as endearing as the first one either. But otherwise, fun and entertaining.

I loved this game as a kid. It's old, but fantastic. I feel like it should be cheaper though. Seeing as the game is super old

Banjo Tooie is easily the best Nintendo 64 sequel ever made. Banjo Tooie is super fun, it has a groundbreaking game dynamics, and is one of the highest ranked Nintendo 64 games of all time. Banjo Tooie was released by RARE in 2000 as the sequel to Banjo Kazooie. It was one of the most highly anticipated sequels of Nintendo 64 history, and for good reason. Banjo Tooie is a platform action adventure game that used groundbreaking level dynamics. In classic platform games before Banjo Tooie such as Mario, or Sonic, there would be a level that you would have to beat and then you would move on and forget about it. The classic game layout was a series of levels linked by an over-world. Well, with Banjo Tooie, things have really changed. In this great game you have to constantly revisit levels as you learn new skills in order to unlock new areas and solve new puzzles. There is no traveling through an over-world. Instead you have to trek back through levels you beat in order to accomplish your quest. An innovative solution to cutting down time spent running all over the map was that RARE implemented a train that would take Banjo through the world, cutting travel time down. Although we may take this game aspect for granted now, and have seen many trains for inter-world transportation, there was a time when this revisiting of the same level with new skills was fresh. That was the time of Banjo Tooie!Vollständige Rezension lesen
