Product Information

EA Sports returns to the gridiron for another season of collegiate competition with this "2005" edition of NCAA Football. In addition to offering the realistic graphics, engaging play, and attention to detail that many have come to expect from a game that's built on the best-selling Madden NFL engine, this year's NCAA Football is designed to accommodate the many emotional and environmental factors that influence the action on the field. The collective enthusiasm of a passionate crowd can be a significant factor in nearly any team sport, but it is especially powerful in college football.

Not only can the intangible inertia of an emotional stadium influence a game's momentum, but more substantial factors, such as crowd noise, or even the unsettling rumble of a thousand foot-stomping fans, can have direct effects on snaps and play-calling. Individual players may react differently as they run on field to the cheers and jeers of 100,000 over-excited fans, too, and smart gamers can turn this to their advantage using NCAA Football 2005's new "Match-Up Stick" feature. Coaches can now spot that nervous freshman tight end, for example, and perhaps gain the upper hand by matching him up against a seasoned senior linebacker.

Of course, "home field advantage" is not an automatic -- visiting squads that can shut down an opponent on its own turf will take the crowd right out of the game, and perhaps even enjoy a few on-field advantages of their own. Either way, these emotional and environmental effects may be most drastic when competing in one of NCAA Football 2005's "Top 25 Toughest Places to Play," which include famous stadiums such as Florida's "Swamp," LSU's "Death Valley," and Michigan's "Big House." Nevertheless, the crowd can be a factor in the smaller stadiums and leagues as well.

As in previous editions, NCAA 2005 features a nearly comprehensive selection of major conference teams, as well as squads from more than 70 smaller 1AA schools. Crowds cheer realistically for their home team, no matter how large or small, but a number of higher profile squads may also see their fans performing signature celebrations in the stands, such as the "Gator Chomp" or "Texas Hook 'Em Horns."

  • A lot of fun, small frustrations

NCAA Football '05 is the last NCAA football game for the gamecube. It can also be played on the Wii. (Do not waste your time on the NCAA '09 All Play, it is terrible.) This game is a lot of fun. You can do a lot with it and it has great ways to customize. The only drawback is that they stopped just short of perfect customizations. You cannot edit the conferences the way you want, you can only add/drop a team. The ACC had 12 teams in 2005 and a conf. championship game but this game shows Boston College still being in the big east. There are occasional times when the players make impossible moves... like jumping 7 feet in the air and 10 yards backwards to deflect a pass. This is frustrating but just remember, your defenders can do it too. Really wish EA would make NCAA 2011+ for the ...

  • Great football game!

NCAA Football 2005 is a great football game. EA makes the best football games on any system. And I think the NCAA football games are better than the Madden football series. The college game is more fun because it has more crowd/cheerleader/mascot emotion, like playing the school's fight song whenever you score. Plus, the college game allows you to run the option offense which is a lot of fun. And in NCAA 2005 they have added several new features that make this game much better than the 2004 version. Including: 1) Crowd momentum - when you do good the home crowd gets louder and if you get them pumped up enough it will make your opponent's controller vibrate and effect the other team. 2) Big hits - you can hit a button to try to make a big hit and cause a fumble or get a big sack. 3) ...

  • NCAA Football 2005: the college experience

While I purchased this solely to be able to export it into my Madden NFL 2005 game, the game seems colorful with the college spin on it (and music is better than Madden 2005). The various modes offer some flexibility in how one approaches the game.

  • College Football on GameCube

This was the last college football game on the GameCube. It's the best one of the limited number of games that preceded it. The game has its quirks, such as wide open receivers dropping easy passes. But, it has the best overall experience of a college football game.

  • Good game

It works normally and is a good game One drawback was a scratched disc
