Coincidentally, a lot of those international players come from European nations because of how fundamentally sound their players are. The new millennium saw an even bigger explosion of European talent joining several NBA teams. Notable European players that became popular NBA stars in the new decade include Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Andrei Kirilenko, Peja Stojakovic, and Luis Scola, among others. However, one European basketball star literally stands taller than others. That man is Marc Gasol. If you go back six to eight years ago, you would immediately think of Pau Gasol whenever you hear the "Gasol" family name. After all, Pau was the European superstar who put Spain on the map as arguably the second best basketball country in the world. Pau also had won championships with the Lakers in the late 2000s. He was the Spanish basketball team's best player and could very well be Spain's best in their basketball history.
