Item is as described in post, great quality, clean, not damaged, great purchase. I'd like to point out that it was also shipped promptly, arrived on time, but the local post office refused to send me any notification of it arriving. Therefore I only got it today, almost a month late. The seller is at no fault, they shipped it on time. Perfect Jane Eyre version will be a favorite!
There have been several film versions of this classic, but this is by far the best. I was not sure I would ever find one. Thank you for providing a great DVD that will give me a lot of pleasure. A fair price and quick delivery made things perfect.

I have seen about 5 different versions of this movie. Three really stand out. The George C. Scott, Orson Wells and Timothy Dalton ones are all great in their own right. In Scott's version Jane is too pretty and too old to play the part. He has the right moodiness and is great at being very tough--and yet tender. The moving scene where she is saying goodbye melted my heart. But the actual film has problems with editing and a little bit on the choppy side. I love this version for its own strong points. Even with their bad casting and strange edits--the film works overall. But I would not hesitate to recommed the other two versions as well. The Dalton one is very close to the book. But the Orson Welles has all the melodrama and he's a little younger looking than he should be but he ... I have seen about 5 different versions of this movie. Three really stand out. The George C. George C. Scott and English dramas
I purchased this DVD for 2 reasons 1. I adored George C. Scott in his interpretation of A Christmas Carol, in my opinion the best recorded so far and 2. I wanted to see how he handled other English dramas. I was both pleased and disappointed. He handled the characterization well, I believe it is a mistake for Mr. Rochester to be a young, handsome devil like Timothy Dalton or even Orson Welles, but the direction and/or editing seemed choppy, perhaps because it was made for TV. If you are not already familiar with the story, it would be hard to follow in this version. The other problem, as I see it, is labeling Susannah York as "plain!" Really? An awful lot of females would just love to be that "plain." My recommendation is: buy it if you are either a George C. Scott or Susannah York fan and ... I purchased this DVD for 2 reasons 1. Great movie! Worth the money spent!
While the editing of this DVD is not good (appears to be recorded from a VHS), the movie storyline itself is wonderful. I have watched it several times since making this DVD purchase. I love the music and have recently purchased the soundtrack. The "love theme" from Jane Eyre is the real reason I wanted to see the movie. As a George C. Scott fan, I knew the acting would be tremendous, and it did not come up short. If you can get past the editing, the movie is entertaining and enjoyable. I prefer this particular version of Jane Eyre due to the music.While the editing of this DVD is not good (appears to be recorded from a VHS), the movie storyline itself is wonderful.
