I LOVE THIS FILM! This IS one of my most favorite movies! It moves your heart and touches your soul in the richest ways. I love sharing about this amazing, uplifting story, written and directed by John Gatins. It portrays the character of 10 yrs. old, Cale Crane, actor, Dakota Fanning, growing up on her family's Kentucky horse "less" farm. In her preciously, persistent pursuit to relate with her Dad, horse trainer, Ben Crane, actor: Kurt Russell, who after giving it his all, lost and gave up on his vision and dreams ... Cale, in her own determined way to help heal an injured racehorse, inspires a profound healing and renewal of faith that powerfully influences her Dad and her Grandfather, as well as their entire family including Mom, actor, Elisabeth Shue, actors, Freddy Rodriguez, Luis ... Ben Crane was once a great horseman, whose gifts as a trainer, were wasted on making other men's fortunes. Sonya was once a great horse, whose promising career on the racetrack was cut short, suddenly, by a broken leg. Considered as good as dead to her owner--who also happens to be Ben's boss--Sonya is given to Ben as his severance pay, along with his walking papers. Now, it will take the unwavering faith and determination of Ben's young daughter, Cale, to bring these two damaged souls together in a quest for a seemingly impossible goal: to win the Breeders' Cup Classic. However, the true miracle might be that, in helping this injured horse, what they are actually healing is their own family. This movie is good family entertainment. Inexpensive DVD Movie, very easy on the dreams!!!!
What do I like or love about this movie? It's a beautiful family film and it is inspired by a true story. Notwithstanding, I love Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, Kris Kristofferson, Elisabeth Shue, Luis Guzman, and Freddy Rodriquez. I loved this story as a little girl journeyed with one horse and how the two of them healed a family! The gentleness, compassion, they all expressed throughout this movie. Why I decided to buy it? Because it is a romance movie filled with promise that all our dreams can come true........... if only we can believe. This movie is destined to become a true classic for years to come. We just visited Keeneland plus have a young granddaughter who is interested in horses so the was a DVD was a good fit. Presents a good story with a real basis.
