Great movie for kids of all ages, must have in Blu-Ray
Great kids movie, bought it for my 3 three year old son, he loves Buzz and Woody. I love animated Blu-Rays, the detail always looks great, and Toy Story (I+II) is a great example of this. The video is absolutely pristine and only limited by the technology in use at the time. The audio is delicious and a joy to finally hear in all its uncompressed glory. Colours are absolutely pristine: the multi faceted colours of the robotic toy, the games, Mr Potato Head's lips and the bed quilts for example are solid and absolutely contained, and why should they not be? Any encoding errors in this transfer would be difficult to achieve, as it's a straight digital to pure digital transfer. The blacks, few that they are, are well rendered, deep and offer a good level of shadow detail, say at the outside ... Whites are gloriously rendered with no bloom and enough detail to be seen in bright skies, or even the bright city lights of Pizza Planet itself. The animation does now look a little more dated than the DVD version, why... because now you can see it's essentially a group of geometric shapes glued together. Also there are one or two scenes where Buzz's feet doesn't quite seem to hit the glossy floor he's standing on, It's very slight but it's there and because Blu-ray offers us these higher definitions then we can now see some anomalies in the actual source animation. Well very minor gripe over with but thought I would mention it.

You always thought Toy Story was a great movie for the whole family, and when you first saw Toy Story, you thought the animation was incredibly breathtaking with fluid motion and briliant colors. You probably thought this was the perfect movie and didn't think it could get any better. Well, just wait till you see it in Blu Ray. The animation is even better in the Blu Ray version. With brighter colors, clearer picture, and briliant animation, not to mention better sound quality, Toy Story in Blu Ray will amaze you again. Not only do you get the Blu Ray of Toy Story, you get the DVD copy, and a DVD rom to play on the computer which the kids will love! excellent beautifull movie.
I've seen many animated movies where the plot goes nowhere; one would expect the same here because so much time was devoted to the animation. Not so. I've never seen such attention to detail--check out the scuff marks on the bedroom door. I've also never seen a movie that tells such a great tale. I was astonished by this movie while I was pregnant with my daughter, and now that she's into movies, I love that she's chosen Toy Story as her new favorite.
