    War is an anamilistic way of solving problems.

    Should be compulsory reading for all high school students because all to often people do not realize the tragedy of war. The death and destruction of humans. This book may make people think about the realities of war, and yes, having lived close to war for 30 years, I would require people to read this.

    You can't UNREAD this book.

    Knowing it was a "classic", I felt compelled to read it. Perhaps halfway through the book I couldn't take any more. Obviously the theme is critically important but this is one book you CANNOT unread. Stopping before I'm totally depressed.

    Horrifying Look at War - Timeless!

    This is the scariest, most disturbing book I have ever read. As a fan of horror movies and books I can tell you that a story like this is far scarier than any monster Stephen King can come up with. Joe is your average American soldier who fights for his country in WWI. He is wounded and as he lays in a hospital bed he thinks about his life. The story is told in flashbacks and it all comes back to how badly hurt Joe really is. Considered one of the finest and fiercest anti-war novels ever written, Johnny Got His Gun won the National Book Award, was banned, made into a movie and Metallica based a song and video on it. It transcends time, made to condemn not just the war Mr Trumbo saw start when this book was published (WWII) but every war that has been fought since. Highly recommended! ...

    Anti war novel

    Johnny Got His Gun. Easily read. Just flow through the pages from beginning to end. A message about war and when called to fight, who you really should take up arms against.
