The Argus C3 belongs to a family of cameras made in America by Argus from 1949 to 1966. The combination of durable construction, a multi-element coated lens and simple to use help to make the C3 a winner. Today a consumer can purchase an old used C3 for $5.00 to $20.00 and with a little cleaning be ready to take pictures. I use Ronsinol lighter fluid, lens cleaner, Q tips and cotton balls to get it clean. And boom baby its 1954 all over again. I have six C3's plus various lenses and filters. It reminds me of days gone by; which is why I shoot a lot in B&W.
The Argus C3 was the camera that allowed folks in the U.S.A to be serious about 35mm photography. Most people could NOT afford the expensive German and other cameras. Most Argus C3s, when properly cleaned, work as well today as when were new, and this camera is no different.
Very nice, practical, easy to use 35mm film camera. While not as versatile as a SLR,is much better than cheap new cameras and certainly better lens.Within its limitations it is a very fine camera for general use.
I bought this camera for nostalgic reasons. I owned one as one of my first cameras. It was so amazing to see it still around and so many to buy. I love just holding it and running thru the convoluted cycle to get a picture. Brings back great memories. I can now hold on to it for the memories and not for the film run thru it. If it even works. It made me and the world 35mm camera fans. And what is film again Kodak?
