Make sure to buy a copy with the original illustrations in it- so, one of the older ones. These really add to the feel of it and are bold and done in pen in a woodcut style by Gary Ward and Edward Crosby. If you have Out of the Pit you'll recognise these. A shame they didn't illustrate more in the series. This is much less of a maze than some of the other fighting fantasy books. The issue is not so much finding a complicated route as collecting the right things along it, and dealing with a series of impressive monsters. Rather than one quest, the one you start morphs into another, and then that changes again. The first part is set in a world of ice and snow, and you end up in places that feature in other ff books- The Forest of Doom and The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, and there are references to other books in the series along the way. The way the storyline goes is a bit different, but the mobs and format are traditional ff ones, with some snow-dwelling creatures thrown in.Vollständige Rezension lesen
