thoughts on this soundtrack
This soundtrack has one very good song, the rest are a complete disaster. They are a bit like trying to figure out a movie from the sixties, which, by its own admission, was a confused mess to begin with. Regreshingly, the insert to the CD admits this, admiting the rift between the principal actor Peter Sellers, fresh out of his hit AFTER THE FOX, and steping into this monstruosity. It also admits the mess that the rights to the books by Ian Fleming are. Although a valiant attempt at an apparently good idea, the soundtrack to this idea is simply terrible. The one and only song worthy of the name is the title theme, by all accounts a chirpy melody, the rest are like unfinished track by a music student, simply put it, badly done.This soundtrack has one very good song, the rest are a complete disaster. Great cd. Missing one song....
I remember when the movie came out – I was just a kid, and loved the soundtrack back then. I had the Beta, then VHS, and finally the DVD of the movie. I finally decided to get the soundtrack – and am sorry I waited so long! This must be remastered, because the quality is perfect. My only complaint – the end theme is missing the lyrics. You know “Seven James Bonds at Casino Royale, they had to save the gal and the world at Casino Royal…” “…six of them went to a heavenly spot, the seventh one’s going to a place where it’s terribly…h o t.” I caught the movie on cable a couple of days ago, hence the impetus to add the soundtrack to my collection. And iPod. Look, for a “flop” the movie has stood the test of time. It’s on more often than successes from the era! How many so called flops ... It's Time For A Sexy Party!
The year was 1967, and the word...? MOD! I could go on for days about the movie itself, but the soundtrack is just as fantastic. Written by Burt Bacharach, with lyrics by Hal David, ("The Look of Love" is the only vocal of any substance,) "Casino Royale" is a spotlight on Bacharach's genius, and his grasp of the era. What am I talking about… aside from the Beatles, Bacharach WAS the era! If you like wacky, crazy, and just plain weird… this is for you! For fans of the Seth MacFarlane series "Family Guy," the track "Home James, Don't Spare The Horses!" is Stewie Griffin's "Sexy Party" music! In closing… all I can say is, If you liked the movie, and you love the sound of the Sixties, you'll love this soundtrack. Try it at a martini party after everyone has had a few! Your friends "in ...
