This is a compelling story of one of rocks most underrated rock pioneers ,charting his humble beginnings from a poor family , to the rise of his Byrds fame , I feel the books writer John Einarson gets as close to the Gene as anybody has . As a boy growing up in the sixties i was moved emotionally by the Byrds beautiful folk rock sound . What i:m struck with most about this story ,is the fact that Clark seems to have been a tortured soul ,a reluctant star ,never quite able to came to terms with the whole rock and roll lifestyle and the usual excessive ways that go with a life on the road , the endless touring ,pressure to make another great single / album . He may have died tragically young at just 46 years old . but Gene's legacy will live on forever . the World of popular music is a sadder place without him . I totally recommend this book to anybody who has an interest in this talented singer songwriter .Vollständige Rezension lesen
