Interesting Story of an Aggressive Innovator!! 6/10
A very aggressive, true story of the rise and fall of a famous billionaire aviator, movie producer, playboy, and businessman. Howard Hughes had a dream, and fought throughout his lifetime to fulfill his dream, after continuously being discouraged by society. His childhood dream was to fly the fastest planes ever built, make the biggest movies ever, and to be the richest man in the world. He suffered a life-time of obsessive compulsive disorder related to a germ-phobia, for which we found interesting. The movie is not filled with very much action and excitement, as it is more on the conservative side, therefore may not be of interests to all viewers, but is however very interesting from beginning to end. Interesting film in aspect of the early development of North American single-wing ... We cannot say we are a Leonardo DiCaprio fan, but he did play a very descriptive role followed by an outstanding performance. The movie does run 170 minutes, and keeps your interest throughout. Era: Mid-1920's through 1940's. We enjoyed the movie, and rate it a 6/10. Aviator is not a movie you may watch over and over again, but will be considered a nice addition to your home movie collection. We hope you enjoy it!!!

Interesting biopic about the life and times of Howard R. Hughes. He was a man driven by passions and great wealth, who in the early 20th century found himself in a the unique position of being in Hollywood, having the guts to buck the system, and both the audacious foresight and the money to make it work for him. Howard Hughes also harbored a lot of demons. His mother died young, and all indications are that she suffered from hypochondria, and passed that on to him too. Looking back today, he probably suffered from bipolar disorder, which could have accounted for his radical behavior and severe mood swings. He was a great womanizer which only goes to show that money can buy anything, and practically anyone. He had a great love for aviation and flying and through this he is best remembered. ... His ideas for aircraft are legendary. The Japanese Zero fighter aircraft of WWII was a Hughes design stolen by the Japs. His ideas for the Hercules, or "Spruce Goose", as it was nicknamed was a design totally unimagined previously. His X-11 spy plane was the idea for the much later U2, and the tremendous number of innovative ideas for rocket and missile systems that are still being produced. He was also a pretty good motion picture film maker. He dared to create TWA airlines and buck the U.S. Senate to strike down unfair protectionist and monopoly laws. With all of his perspective, and innovative ideas, he still withdrew further and further into obscurity. In the end he died a lunatic hopelessly addicted to drugs. He is buried in Houston, Texas.

Howard Hughes' story
A decent movie about one of America's facinating personalities. Very convincing nostalgic look at the early twentieth century America. Dicaprio delivers a solid portrayal of Hughes. Cate Blanchett is wonderful, the Hughes/Hepburn dialog and interplay is very well done and entertaining as are many other scenes with Alan Alda and Alec Baldwin. The special features are also excellent, including the History Channel's "Howard Hughes Tech" feature. An entertaining and worthwhile DVD.A decent movie about one of America's facinating personalities. Very convincing nostalgic look at the early twentieth century America. The Aviator
Outstanding acting by DiCaprio. The movie was long, but very interesting in showing how mental anguish can destroy a person's quality of life. Hughes' mind seemed to be working furiously 24 hours a day and that is enough pressure to make a person "go off their rocker". He loved women, but not really loved in return because of his eccentric habits. He was really a lonely lonely man! Money cannot buy happiness as he found out!
