Developed exclusively for the PS3 by Sucker Punch Productions, Infamous is an electrically themed open-world adventure that fuses a Grand Theft Auto-style narrative with Crackdown's superpowers and the parkour-inspired acrobatics of Assassin's Creed, all set within a modern metropolis left reeling after a catastrophic explosion. At the epicenter of that explosion was Cole MacGrath, a simple courier whose package detonated in mid-transit, leveling a six-block area of Empire City, and seemingly unleashing a mysterious plague that prompted a military-enforced quarantine. Even more mysterious is the fact that Cole not only survived the blast, but walked away from it with the superhero-like abilities to harness electricity, cling to nearly any surface, and scale buildings with stunning alacrity. As the beleaguered citizenry of Empire City try to eek out an existence, waiting for supply drops, coping with isolation and anger, and living in fear of roving gangs, they begin to look to Cole as either the source of their misery, or their only hope for deliverance. It soon becomes clear, however, that Cole is not the only one with mysterious powers. The gangs terrorizing people aren't mere hoodlums or looters, but mysterious wraith-like creatures known as Reapers. Infamous gives players the freedom to use Cole's powers for good or for ill, but regardless of whether they choose to navigate the story altruistically or go the self-serving route, gamers will frequently confront Reapers of varying size and strength. From a combat standpoint, Infamous resembles a typical third-person shooter, except Cole's powers render him incapable of handling firearms. No matter, though, as his arcing bolts of blue lightning serve the same purpose as bullets, and small bundles of charged energy function as electric grenades. He can also create electric handcuffs to restrain foes, use blasts of energy to send people or objects spiraling backward, resuscitate injured bystanders, and even sap the life from downed enemies. Cole is not a never-ending reservoir of electricity, however, so players must locate transformers, lampposts, power wires, car batteries, and other electrical hotspots in order to recharge. As is the case with many open-world games, Infamous includes a number of side missions and collectibles, though the developers actively sought to encourage vertical exploration by tying the collectibles to the main storyline. Instead of tracking down hidden packages or flags, gamers set out to find audio recordings from a federal agent, or chunks of a strange substance that makes Cole even more powerful. Another continuing side quest finds players shutting off valves to prevent the Reapers from releasing a hallucinogenic substance into Empire City's water supply. Unfortunately, Cole must come in contact with the psychoactive drug in order to reach the valves, but the resulting hallucinations open a mental link to the mysterious leader of the Reapers, and these revelations offer gamers a more complete understanding of Cole's place in the ongoing struggle.

Received this epic award winning movie quickly, in good condition as advertised, and well packaged in bubble wrap envelope for safe shipping. I also appreciated the thoughtful placing of bubble wrap inside the case to protect the disc. I would actually say this dvd is in like new condition, complete with insert. Movie played perfectly and is a great addition to my collection. Very positive buying experience and I would buy from this seller again. Highly recommend!!

Is it corny to say "a shock to your system"?
Normally sandbox games aren't my thing but Infamous clearly changed my opinion. It tells the story of Cole whom is a regular guy that is suddenly given great power at the cost of extreme turmoil. Of course the morality system has been done before but this takes it to the next level. Not only are your story choice actions weighed but how you fight can change your karmic affinity as well. On top of that, your karma effects how you can upgrade your powers and which powers are available to you. This changes the tactics you use to take foes down. I do have a few grievances with this game but my only major one is the citizen AI. When fights break out, most run around or across the battlefield instead of running away from it. It's even common for them to huddle within 3 feet of your opponents. This makes following the good path hard because they often get within line-of-sight of enemies and harming them gives evil karma. Most of the time, there's no way to avoid injuring them which I find very frustrating. All-in-all, I would say this is a great addition for anyone's game library. It has a good story, great action and a believable cast of characters. I'm still in the process of playing it too so it also has a good length. I look forward to seeing what Sucker Punch does in the coming future.

Really great game overall. It rolls features of some of my favorite games into one. It has the parkour-inspired, building wall-crawling, roof-jumping fun of Assassins creed, along with some amazing bonuses that AC doesn't have. It has similar powers and abilities seen in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Which is a lot of fun. The story lets you be good or evil, like Fable or KOTOR. It has a very open-ended, exploration friendly world that is extremely detailed. I mean, the detail is incredible. Its very gritty, grungy and full of interesting buildings and areas to explore. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of any of the games mentioned in my review. The bad is that it can be a bit buggy at times, and can also become a bit repetitive if played for long periods of time. ... Really great game overall. Very Good Fun Game
First-off, I note that I generally am not a big fan of the Sandbox games. GTA series bored me after 10 hours of playing. Though Assassin's Creed kept me interested enough to play through, the repetition made it a chore towards the end. Infamous got a little repetitive, but never enough to make the game a chore. Maybe I'm still a kid at heart, but I just found rail-sliding and gliding across the city roof-tops fun even if without a purpose. Pros: 1. Fun!! Especially once you get the rail-slide and gliding abilities!! 2. Good Story, and worth a second play-through (one good, one evil) 3. Never frustrating - great intuitive gameplay mechanics. Fighting, wall climbing, gliding, jumping, and landing are all easy intuitive enough to pick-up and play out of the box. Cons: 1. A little ... All-in-all this was very good and fun game....just short of 5/5, because the lack of variety in the mission/enemies.

A must play before the infaous2
Now here's a game like gta without all the filth a 5th grader would learn for the first time. It has the same playing scheme but now instead of a mob boss you get to be one of the greatest, better yet, infamous super hero. Equipped with a varied of skills, as the game progresses, you get to choose your path of good or evil. The quicker you decide the better. It really doesn't matter too much because to get a platinum trophy, a minimum of 2 play throughs is required. So you'll get the chance to find out all the possibilities of the game. It is also a great game of expression, there really is no right way to defeat your opponents, just whatever works best, however, so methods are more effective more variable situations.Now here's a game like gta without all the filth a 5th grader would learn for the first time. Very Engaging
This game is so fun to play, you don't want to stop. The fact that good or bad deeds influence the direction of the storyline and what happens in the game is just awesome and adds real replay value to the game. I gave this a Good rating because toward the end of the game, the side missions become a bit monotonous and predictable. Also, the controls/camera angles can be frustrating at times. The great thing about the main character being able to grab/stick to just about anything, can be a downfall at the same time, when you just want to move or drop from buildings fast. The game does a great job of making you feel like a real superhero/villain. Great gameplay, pretty decent story will keep you playing for hours, which is another plus - this isn't an 8 hour game.
