Good player for the price
I bought a SanDisk Sansa c140 because they are so cheap right now. I guess they have been recently discontinued and all the liquidators are selling them. At the price, which should be under $30 and perhaps way under $30, they are an excellent deal. In the days of 80gb MP3 players, a gigabyte might seem like a very little, but in practical use it's more than enough. You can fit about 12 full albums on there, and that ought to do for a day or two. The SanDisk Sansa c140 is easy enough to use that you can figure it out without looking at the manual. I'm running Windows XP, and I simply plugged the USB cable into my computer and was able to transfer songs on and off without loading any further software. SanDisk loads 20 or 30 songs onto the Sansa at the factory. I guess ... I bought a SanDisk Sansa c140 because they are so cheap right now. The songs did not show up in Windows Explorer when I had the player plugged into Windows, and I really didn't want to load the SanDisk software onto my PC. A quick Google search and I found out how to get rid of the original songs. With the player plugged in, right-click on the drive icon that represents the player in Windows Explorer, and choose the 'format' option. Formatting the player erases the original songs and any songs you might have on it, but doesn't harm the player and any other way. Then you can load your music back on and the original songs are gone. A good AAA battery lasts for at least eight hours, and I happen to use rechargeables, so battery use is good. The battery included with the player is really cheap, and barely lasts for hours, but this doesn't mean that all batteries are eaten up so quickly. In short this player is an excellent deal for the price if you get it cheap your on eBay. It'll meet your basic needs for portable music, is reasonably easy to use, and one gig is enough for about 12 CDs.

good for audiobooks
I use this player for downloaded WMA and MP3 audiobooks. I listen to audiobooks for several hours daily, and I like this player...it's fairly sturdy and it uses a removable, rechargeable AAA battery instead of the integral battery. That way, I don't have to wait for the battery to charge to continue listening to my book. I keep 2 of these players at a time, alternating them. Each will hold 12-15 books, depending on the length. Used for several hours daily and carried around all the time, they seem to last about 6-8 months before they start to fail. Since I can usually get them for about $30, that's OK. I'll keep using these until they become unavailable. Unfortunately, this is the only player that is compatible with WMA and has replaceable batteries. It is no longer made but still ... It's alright
I like the free 30 day subscription to Rhapsody, that was nice, this also holds a lot of songs, which is wonderful. I have had some problems with figuring out how to get songs off the player though, and it's being wierd at times and telling me I need to synch my music, I'm not technically savvy, but why does it work okay one day and not the next? Anyway, it uses a LOT of batteries too! I think that's normal for this kind of thing. The reason I bought this was because it was recommended by a friend, if I had done some more research I might have gotten something else, I would really like an armband and things like that for it, but they are almost impossible to find and when you do, they're very expensive. What I like is the ease of moving from song to song without looking (which is why I bought it). This is a good player to take to the gym while on the treadmill or other fast moving equipment. My purchase came in a sealed package with its own battery, and the one I used to start listening with. I left the MP3 player in my car glove box for about a week and the next time I pulled it out to play it, found out that it wasn't working because the battery it came with had leaked all over it and completely destroyed it. I was able to get about 5 hours of listening time out of a brand new player. If you buy one, do yourself a favor and buy an expensive, reliable battery that will last.What I like is the ease of moving from song to song without looking (which is why I bought it). I wanted an MP3 player to listen to on evening walks. This player is the perfect fit. It holds approx. 500 songs and has playlist features, radio, voice recorder, etc. Very versitile. I only had one problem downloading songs from Rhapsody. Once I created a playlist and then later would try to update it on my MP3 player after adding additional songs to my playlist, it would create double of the same playlists instead of updating the original playlist. I don't know if this is a problem with the MP3 player, Rhapsody, or just ME. Overall this player is perfect for what I want it for.I wanted an MP3 player to listen to on evening walks.
