I live in Derby, Kansas, which is south of Wichita. Most of the over-the-air TV signals come from NNW of Wichita. So I am somewhere between 35 and 50 miles away from the broadcast antennas. Derby is also in a valley, which makes good TV reception even more of a challenge. I had tried 3 different TV antennas in the attic. I had to use an antenna rotor with these in order to achieve decent (not great) reception. It almost wasn't worth the trouble. So I finally decided to mount a UHF Yagi TV antenna 8 feet above the roof and use the CM7777 in conjunction with the Yagi. What a difference!! We are now able to receive 61 TV channels with the Yagi pointed NNW without a rotor. I expect many years of service from the CM7777 and would buy another one without hesitation. I have also recommended it to my friends.Vollständige Rezension lesen

We purchased this CM7777 to replace another CM7777 that was 3 years old and stopped working. While the original CM worked we were quite satisfied with its performance. We also had the Channel Master Rotor to tune in more TV stations, which eventually died too. Both were installed by a local antenna professional on a 45' tower. The pro wanted $600 to come out and fix the system. We decided to do it ourselves and rented a lift. We were able to use the inside controllers for both, which shortened install time. Upon taking the old parts apart, the problem was water leakage. The amp was heavily corroded and shorted out. The rotor's weather seal cracked and water seized the motor. So for around $200 we replaced all the broken parts. Time will tell how long these will last.
I bought the 7778 first to try , i live in rural area pole 20ft hi with the antenna pointed in 1 direction i got like 11 or 14 channels & held pretty stable...bought the 7777 next pointed in same direction got like 16-20 with 16 being stable the others pixels every now & then . Have received up to 33 but as time passes they will pixel or disconnect or double channels. So my findings are the antenna has to be pointed in right direction with either box so it maybe wise to get a motor set up to change direction however i do not. Its locked so i can get the main net work stations. Even tho i get more channels with the 7777 i get less stations but more stability with the 7778 for now. I will try again after i get the motorolla. Lol

The Channel Master Titan 2 preamp is a good preamp with high gain. The manufacturer rates its gain in VHF and UHF at 30db. Comparing it against the much cheaper Winegard LNA-200 with a rated 16db gain on UHF, when measured at the TV receiver, the actual signal gain improvement is 1db on the same RF channel. With both preamps, the UHF antenna used is the 8-bay Channel master 4228. So depending on your application, fringe or deep fringe reception, the Titan 2 may be beneficial, although it does cost a lot more than the plastic Winegard.

Before I added this amplifier, I could only receive 14 stations. I now get 45 stations. I haven't had this very long but it seems to be working as implied. I mounted it with a Clearstream 2V antenna on a pole that sits 15 feet above the eve of my house. The furthest transmitter is 50 miles away. This appears to be a good and necessary addition to receive the most stations.
