Weird Noises, for a great price.
I love this thing, it makes so many weird noises. Just be advised, the part that looks like a keyboard functions as a ribbon with increasing pitch, there is no correlation between the pitch and the note that is displayed on the keyboard. None the less, I can't wait to work some of these sounds into my recordings. I have both this model and the Korg Duo Monotron Mini. I love this one quite a bit more, but recommend both as you can link them and bring the analog goodness to the next level. Do beware that analog equipment is a bit loud sometimes, it uses tape, and you can hear that hissing "tape sound". Having said that, I LOVE this thing, so worth the price. I take it on trips with me and plug headphones in on a plane or whatever, and just make odd sounds to pass the time.I love this thing, it makes so many weird noises. A noisy little thing!
This a sister (or brother) to the regular MONOTRON from KORG,...and it adds a neat-o little echo box into the circuit(and it can be pushed into feedback...which is a cool effect). BUT with the standard old MONOTRON you could make tunes with a little effort,...while this beast seems only to be for "space effects". Maybe with a LOT of difficulty you could play a simple tune,....but the fun here is in making swirling , whooshing , bleeping sounds that echo out into infinity . Perfect little powerhouse!!
This is a powerful little tool. I hook it up to a keyboard amp and it becomes a full service sound module that is super fun to tinker with for hours of mind melting sounds. I have yet to hook up an auxiliary source but cannot wait to see what other sorts of fun can be had!! This well worth the money, as far as I’m concerned.

small and portable. Loads of fun. Cool sounds.
I love the space like sounds that come out of this synth. It is fun when I'm on the go. Want to make music, but don't have my computer or my phone handy. Sure I may of paid a little more than others listed on Ebay. But I still think it was very much worth the price. I also love how this lights up under a blacklight.

Super Fun Sound Design Machine
The Korg Monotron Delay is a very immediate and fun sound design machine and processor. What’s especially unique about it is that the filter comes after the delay. You can process incoming audio or the oscillator and control the tone of the repeats with the onboard filter, which is taken from the MS20 synth and is a personal favorite of mine. There is no resonance control to the filter but it’s set at a very tasty level. This makes for a very creative sonic landscape. The internal oscillator is a saw waveform and can be modulated with either a triangle or a square LFO. Matched with the delay, this delivers some very spacey and interesting sounds. I would say the Monotron Delay is best suited for external processing and making samples. The ribbon controller doesn’t offer any precise control ... The ribbon controller offers continuous control of pitch, so sweeps are possible by running your finger up or down the ribbon. I used mine to make a sample library, incorporating the delay in my sound design as the layering of repeats with the filter and the modulation of the LFO makes for some pretty large sounds. I really like how fast the LFO goes. It goes into the audio range for analog-FM style tones. The real magic of this synth comes with the automation of the parameters, delivering hands on motion to otherwise static sounds. A vast array of sonic textures can VERY easily be coaxed out of this with little prior experience. The Monotron Delay delivers wild sonic textures that are at home in any electronic music track looking for something to give it some grimy analog grit.
