After watching the first five minutes of this film, I thought this was going to be the BEST MOVIE EVER!!! seriously! A silent super-ninja attacks a group of Yakuza, picking them off one by one. Some get their limbs chopped off, others are sliced off at the knees, some get their heads severed. Very awesome and VERY bloody (be warned, there is a TON of blood to be found here) And then the rest of the film happened.... shame that. Now I know that this is not Schindler's List, it's a brainless popcorn flick aimed at young men who like Ninjas and blood, HOWEVER!!!! if you make a set of rules in your film, you should stick to those rules. You have a group of Ninjas who have been trained by their master since they were children, why are some of them... well, a bit crap really. I mean, ... We get flashbacks in the film showing how the main character progressed from a child, to a ninja child, to a ninja teen, and let me tell you, it looked TOUGH. You fail at something, you are either beaten badly or you DIE. After watching some of the other ninjas in this movie, you wonder how the hell they made it out of Ninja school. Why is it they always send the useless Ninjas after the main female character in this film? if they sent a GOOD ninja after her, she would have been dead in the first ten minutes, but somehow she escapes death again and again. Also, why is it that Ninjas can move with super speed, but only at certain times? Heck, if I could move at super speed, I would do it right away so I could beat the bad guys or escape quickly. Anyway, the plot is your basic revenge film, "man is wronged and wants revenge on the wronger" (is that even a word?) in this case a ninja rejects his training and wants to kill his master. There are some excellent fight scenes here, but the stuff between is so *meh* that you may not care about getting to the next epic fight. Oh yeah, and another thing about the blood. There is TOO MUCH FAKE BLOOD! I like blood in movies, I like it when people get stabbed and spurt blood, what I HATE HATE HATE is CGI blood. Which shoots all over the place and looks so fake, not leaving puddles of goo on the floor afterward, but maybe that is just me. If you are looking for a brainless way to spend 90 minutes, then this is enjoyable enough, I guess I am just fussy when it comes to movies breaking their own rules. Dammit they are NINJAS!!! nobody should be able to sneak up on a ninja with a gun. EVER!

Good story with great action and filming.
Ancient Ninja school gathers young kids for training as assassins for hire. One particular prodigy student has issue with the ethics of his master and betrays the clan. While on the run from his former family of assassins , he becomes entangled with an investigative operative who learns of the clans existence , threatening to expose the Ninjas. The student must make a choice between remaining hidden, or standing against his former family, and protecting her. There are many scenes with lots of detailed fighting action. The superhuman like abilities of the Ninja add a lot to the movie's feel. The Dark scene lighting in some places is done well, and will pop out better with a good TV with a high contrast ratio. This movie is violent and bloody. It was a decent movie. Definitely not for children. The disc arrived in great shape.
