This is most powerful movie I have ever seen. But most people won't understand why... A friend who saw it with me commented that he had just seen a poor guy get beat up, tortured and killed for 2 hours. He felt sick. To me the violence was so powerful because in every scene you can see that the Christ has control and has the power to change what is happening... every moment he makes a choice to go on. He is not the victim, he is fighting a battle with the powerful Satan character ever present and tempting him to use his power to stop it. Even my wife - who hates violent movies - saw this and saw why the movie is so powerful by showing what he did, why he did it and what it means to all of us. His teachings and his life were indeed very uplifting but the most incredible thing he did is what this movie shows... Don't miss it. The sets, the costumes, the cinematography, the languages (Aramaic & Latin) the acting and the realism are stunning. I was transported to ancient Judea for those two hours.Vollständige Rezension lesen

All I can say is that, this movie has had more of an impact on me than any other movie ever. The movie is extremely accurate in its history. It has incredible acting and it will stun you sitting there watching it. The movie does has english subtitles because it is actually filmed in aramaic. But the imagery of the movie definitely transcends the subtitles, even to the point where it makes sense not to have the movie in the english language. Some scenes are graphic, but not overly detailed. It will make you squirm in your seat quiet a few times while watching it. I can think of five times during this movie where I could not hold back tears. Overall this movie probably will not get the acclaim it deserves just because of its subject matter. But it is the best movie so far in the 21st Century. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone and everyone...no matter if your a religious person or not...Gibson does a incredible job of taking a 2000 year old story and turning it into a reality before your eyesVollständige Rezension lesen
Because only a hermit will not be aware of this film, you've either seen it or you haven't. If you're a Christian (and I am), it's almost required watching if for no other reason but to see how your Savior is portrayed on film. So assuming you're one of the very few who didn't see this film, mired briefly in phony controversy and wrong accusations of anti-semitism, I will review it as if you haven't seen it. You already know the story. You also already know the sad, if not bittersweet ending. But you have never seen a more spectacular film depicting the life of Jesus Christ. The most distinctive thing about this masterwork is the feeling it imparts of actually being there -- at once, unsettling and emotional. More than a cinematic experience, I came away from this film with my then young daughter, having spent an inordinate amount of time openly weeping. Obviously, this film will have more impact and meaning to people of faith than random atheists, because you come away with a genuine feel for what these days would have been like if you had been there. The flogging and crucifixion of Jesus was at once gripping and real beyond expectations. One special moment for me was when Jesus fell and His mother rushed to his side, recalling when he was small and fell as a child. Helping Him to his feet, He looked at her and said, "See, Mother? I make all things new." And I broke down and cried. The movie is bigger than can be described here. It was a life-changing experience for me that I would heartily recommend to anyone who has even a passing interest in the life of Christ. Watch Mel Gibson's masterpiece. You won't be sorry.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I positively love this movie. I have watched many movies, about Our Lord Jesus Christ and this one was very very close to how the last 12 hours of his life. Most movies just gloss over how he was really beaten and scourged for us, but this one is so real, that I have to watch it only in portions. (I cry as I think about how Christ was really treated and how the soldiers were so cruel). I saw the movie the first week it came out and it profoundly changed how I saw the "Crucifixion" and about how he was really treated. I read some reviews about the movie recently before I sent this to my older sister who had never sent it and was saddened at how people viewed the movie. Those who criticized it; obviously have never read the scripture about the Crucifixion and the beatings that he received and they wanted to say that Mel Gibson was some hater. In actually, he was very correct in most of the movie (of course it was a little Hollywood'ized' for the purpose of movie goers. But all in all, I loved it and it has taken me this long to see it again, it was just so touching and tender (Jesus and his mom and Jesus and Mary Magdalene). I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know how the last 12 hours of Christ life was.Vollständige Rezension lesen
In keeping with the Biblical story, Mel Gibson trapped the essence of story time line. Through the cameras he unraveled a compelling unrelent of the cruelty that Christ was dealt. Every movement every line read was meant to shake peoples minds right down to their toes. It brought churches to the movie housers. Whole congregations showed up to witness the torture and pain Jesus felt on his way dragging his cross to his final death. To die for all of our sins so that we would not have to suffer. Jesus saved our souls from destruction so that we'd have every lasting life. An outstanding Story to be told over and over, again and again. It's truely worth watching.
