For even the casual fan of The Temptations or Motown, this is a must-see DVD - fans should run, not walk, to the nearest place that has this for purchase. Not only do you get to see the band in their prime exhibiting their legendary stage choreography but you can watch the entire DVD with a capella tracks only, isolating their amazing, rich harmonies. Melvin Franklin's booming bass voice is a revelation after being rather hidden in the mix of the albums and singles. The intro clip of "The Way You Do The Things You Do" might just be the best, as it is live and the band has not gone to matching suits yet. It gives you a great glimpse at what this developing band started out like, how you'd imagine them on the street, and the full impact of just how cool they were. From there on they just get smoother and smoother, in spite of the behind-the-scenes turmoil. Otis Williams contributes wonderful anecdotes between songs. The ratio of David Ruffin to Dennis Edwards is appropriate and we get Paul Williams' wonderful lead on "Don't Look Back". This DVD will show the way to anyone who might question what all the fuss is about The Tempts, and will be an illuminating gift to anyone who already appreciates them on any level.Vollständige Rezension lesen

The Temptations were one of Motown's most successful groups with hits My Girl and Ain't Too Proud To Beg, among others. Their road to fame is narrated by Otis Williams as various performances are shown (many TV shows). It also includes the last performance by Eddie Kendricks. This is a great nostalgia DVD and has the best songs by the group. Well worth buying!

Excellent! The DVD has a number of great features. Otis Williams shares his memories of Motown and The Temptations both as a group and individually. There is a feature that allows you to listen to their songs a cappella. The arrangements on the songs are superb but this feature allows you to listen to their incredible voices in all their purity.
I grew up in Canada across the river from Detroit and the Tempts were "It" in those days. What a privilege it was to be surrounded by all of that talent - Tempts and all of the early classic Motown artists. David Ruffin was my favorite but of course, all of the Tempts made it happen. This DVD includes some terrific film from TV shows including the local Swingin' Time ... I never missed it! The dialogue of Otis Williams is very telling - informative, interesting, fun, and sad all at the same time. I recommend it to any Tempts fan. Their talent is timeless.
