Comes with a power supply that is not really suitable for the power needs of the unit you have to Chase hum gremlins. I used an older power supply from a ham radio that was suitable and you have to watch your cell phone when you're near it. Once you get some of these things worked out it works great.

This sounds beautiful. Nothing to A/B with, but compared with previous vintage preamps and receivers with built in phono preamps, this sounds great. I replaced the Ruby tube with a new production Mullard 12ax7 and the highs really opened up. So it seems it is tube dependent and that could be some fun. Super cool look -- my wife even likes it.

Valves are inefficient. Valves are noisy. Valves are old fashioned. As for Distortion, don’t even go there—-0.02% THD where most solid state units are 0.0006% THD. So who in their right mind would buy a ‘TUBE’ Phono Stage? You are!!! Seriously!!! Nothing can capture a woman’s voice like a good old fashioned 12Ax7 Valve. Or a Spanish Guitar or a Sitar or a piano!!! Plus, you can be a Blowhard just like me. I was at an art installation in SF and I spotted two Rock icons from the 80’s. Everyone was fawning over them so what did I say to them? Hi, I’m a Tube Roller and I’m using a Long Plate 1968 Telefunken NOS 12AX7A in my first position. Everyone says go with the Mazda 1962 NOS but I don’t know? What are you using? I had them eating out of my hand and my girlfriend was livid that I hijacked the conversation again—-I’m a Leo, she knows better!!! What’s are the negatives? First, unless your cartridge is a High Output MC, you can only run Moving Magnets!!! Second, Dump the stock valve (Chinese Ruby 12AX7A for a Russian Mullard) and Thifd, dump the Wall Wort for a cheap low noise Linear Power Supply. 12vx 18. If your AMP/PreAmp is overly bright, this unit is for you!!!Vollständige Rezension lesen

As posted online, some will definitely need to upgrade the power supply and stock tube. I definitely did. Once you do, it's not a bad sounding at all. Will try and Bugle bpy or Tele before final judgement. Nice to have adjustable gain.

The sound of vinyl/cartridge/turntable out of the stereo receiver through the Bellari VP130, compared to using the receiver's built-in RIAA phono preamp was ... startling. Much warmer more detailed sound through the VP130. After trying the stock Chinese tube, and some ElectroHarmonix Russian tubes the seller generously included, I swapped in a Bugera AX127A tube, which after initial break-in period, sounds even better! A $14 upgrade, well worth it. The separate headphone output and level control are a nice touch - handy when comparing tubes.
