I first saw this album the week it came out and I was in New York City. I figured I would buy it when I got back home to Chicago. Four days later the album was yanked from the market because one song had been included without clearance. Decades and decades later the album miraculously was released again and proved a revelation, a knockout marathon performance by Liza at the top of her form.

I have waited for the release of the CD version of this concert for many years. This spectacular Broadway One Woman Concert was recorded when Liza was at her peak! The variety of songs shows her incredible range, and she is in top form. This concert includes some of her best work, the funny Kander and Ebb "Exactly Like Me", and a "you can hear a pin drop" Charles Aznavour heartbreaker called "And I in My Chair". The latter is stunning. Liza also sings her favorite song from her Broadway debut Flora the Red Manace, "Its a Quiet Thing" and many others. One of her very best works!!!!
Liza appears always at her best before a live audience -- so it should come as little surprise that she should shine mightily in this newly expanded and restored edition of her famed, too long out-of-print Winter Garden concert series of 1974. Better even than Liza-the-singer is Liza-as-communicator -- and this is, as always, what she does best here. The lady's command of a lyric, ringing new meaning out of most everything she performs, is perhaps her greatest asset; a gift amply displayed here. Go, Liza.
Live at the Winter Garden is a wonderfuk cd. I'm so happy that it's finally out on cd. I heard it in the 1970'ies when I was a kid, and since then it has been impossible to find. Production was stopped due to contract problems because the cd contains songs from Cabaret. Now it's here. Finally. It's a must if you are a Liza fan. I consider it among her best recordings.
