Product Information

Despite its girls-with-guns storyline and doe-eyed characters dressed in schoolgirl outfits, the action anime series GUNSLINGER GIRL eschews its genre's typically breezy comedy style for a dark and brooding exploration of female childhood. Set in Italy, the series centers on a little girl named Henrietta, who is taken in by a seemingly benevolent social welfare agency after her entire family is murdered in a massacre. But the organization is really a front for a secret government program that adopts terminally ill or orphaned girls, erases their memories, and endows them with implanted cybernetic devices that transform them into perfectly conscience-free assassins. As part of the reconditioning process, the girls are partnered with older male agents who not only provide them with professional instruction, but also act as their surrogate older brothers. Moody, stylish, and violent, the series chronicles Henrietta's training with her partner Jose with equal parts high-octane action sequences and poignant character studies of the pair's evolving relationship. The anime continues with four more episodes.

    Second is the Best

    Continuation of the Gunslinger Girl series. This series is not what it sounds like: it's not about guns, and it's not about skanky girls weilding them like the title may suggest. It's about little girls who were given a second chance at life with advanced technology and conditioning to make them do the government's dirty work. It's very emotional, touching, and thought-provoking. A tragic beauty, I highly recommend any volumes of this series.

    Moving, brilliant, heartfelt.

    gunslinger girl is a story of hardships... I always feel for these little girls that struggle to become assassins. I love the style of this anime and how the characters move you. I don't see too many italian based anime that don't create that foreign cliche but this series hits home making it a must have in any anime loves collection!

    Good stuff. Really well-done series.

    Volume two of a great series. Not much to say here other than if you liked volume one, expect even more of what you enjoyed in this volume.
