The pads are amazingly responsive. The sounds are realistic and usable. At this price point, I would expect more sequencing capabilities. The Quick Record feature, while handy, simply doesn't do what a traditional drum-machine sequencer could offer. And you can't edit or quantize what you record. Also, it's a decent MIDI controller, but is little better than traditional pads for MIDI control, as the realistic responsiveness doesn't translate over MIDI.

It is very esay on your hands. It is outstanding , just like or better than the real congas. I love it. The only con is that you need a amplifier, which does not come with the HPD-20 handSonic. It is alot of fun to adventure through it.

Good sound when paired with decent cable and especially a good amp (full audio freq. range). Sounds incredible in high end headphones. Near-infinitely Tweakable but that’s a “nuanced” process, to be polite. For drummers, it’s like learning a new instrument. There’s not a lot that it has in common with other gear. You have to Practice. This is good, as it’s really in the realm of a complex instrument all by itself. For extra credit, and fun, add in a looping station, as the looping on HPD-20 is limited.

Closest thing you can have to a drum kit. And its quiet when you want and fits in a backpack.

Tool or Toy? That was my question when I looked at picking up a handsonic. I’ve had the hpd-15 but I liked the aesthetics and refinement of the Hpd-10. Obviously I would have gotten the HPD-20 if I could afford it.
