There seems to be a big hoopla about thses heaters..I will be honest..it's a fair heater at best. I have owned 3..all new in the box..here are the problems. First of all is the excessive amount of "white powder" this heater gives off. I use only clear, treated, kerosene and all heaters give off a certain amount of this residue but these heaters go way beyond the "normal" amount. It builds up on the top of the chimney, grill, heater and anything sitting close to it. You have to wonder what that residue is doing to your lungs? Now after it is dry burned for the first time a black spot appears on the chimney on the right hand side where the wick will no longer burn right. The chimney is suppose to burn bright red all the way around..after dry burning it is impossible to make this happen ever again. There is virtually no wick adjustment..to adjust the flame you have to turn the chimney and shake it around..this is very hard to do because of the huge front grill and the heat coming out. Beyond all that is said, it does give off an odor! ALL KEROSENE HEATERS DO! Kerosene is a fossil fuel..when burnt fossil fuels give off gases and exhaust fumes so don't be fooled. The wick on the SX-2E is a nightmare to change without the manual..even with it be prepared to remove alot of screws and and pay special attention to the spring in the wick sleeve and how it fits back on the adjustment arm. Like I said I have owned 3 and have never paid more than $50 for each..they are NOWHERE NEAR worth the $300 plus I have seen them selling for here on Ebay! The price marked on the box is on average $124.99 new..to pay more than that is just ludicrous! Save your money..buy any Toyostove Double Clean model..they are PROVEN in Govt. tests be be MUCH safer to your health! All in all..it is just another kerosne heater. Sometimes if things weren't made for very long and they are rare to come by..that is a BAD thing! Yes I have owned 3..but they have all been used in a well ventilated workshop. This is just my opinion.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I love this heater, it has been used for at least 5 winters now and has been flawless and is still using the factory wick. the tall chimney makes for very complete burn and its narrow reflector throws the heat very far into my deep living room. When brand new the wick was a little high and uneven so I spent a bit of time adjusting and trimming it the first winter but after that all I do is fill it up and use. A wipedown and dry burn once every 2-3 weeks (maybe 10 gallons of Kerosene) is the only maintenance required. I have not seen any white dust as mentioned in another review.
Lights up quickly. Puts out both radiant heat that you can feel several feet away, but also convection heat to heat the whole space.

This heater is an exceptional heater. The highest of quality and reliability. It is not perfect however- the wick on this heater is pinned, meaning that as the wick is used, and eventually no longer serviceable- with an unpinned wick you can trim it and move it up- almost like getting a new wick. With the corona however- the wick is pinned and cannot be moved. When worn out- it must be replaced, at an expense of about 10-12$. Expect a wick to last about a year for the corona, 2-3 years for unpinned wicks. The finest kerosene heaters are made in Japan and the corona is no exception. Fit- finish- function- are fantastic especially compared to today's crop of china heaters. And the wick inconveniences are worth the trouble. I reccomend this heater
I have had Kerosun kerosene heaters for over 30 years for emergencies and severe cold snaps. I bought one used Corona unit on the recommendation of a kerosene heatger/wick internet guru. He was right. This unit is well built and has absolutely no odor. The wick burns very clean and only needs to be burned down after using 5-10 gallons of kero. I liked this unit so much I purchased a second SX-2e on ebay and am selling my Kerosun heaters.
