"B" Movie Shocks The World !!!!
WOW !!!! I picked this up just because I liked the main actress, CERINA VINCENT who plays a Forest Ranger stationed at a far away outpost, (she was also in "Cabin Fever"). At that far away outpost she is maintaining watch over a Damn and aiding in the release of flooding waters by the Ton to ensure the safety of the Forest and neighboring towns. Then, in typical horror-movie fashion, the maylee begins. A Demon has been released from Thousands of Years locked up in a Stoned Sealed cavern and it is laying it's judgement on everyone and everything without mercy. -- This is clearly a "B" movie, but it really unleashes. Some of the acting, particularly from the clearly miscast boyfriend Forest Ranger, can be overlooked when you get the Demon. Special Effects on the Demon and the wild chaos and ... WOW !!!! Special Effects on the Demon and the wild chaos and slayings it partakes in are worthy of the ferocity and graphic spine-chillers of "ALIENS", as well as the camera-work made famous in "Evil Dead". This movie is an outright pleasant surprise and definately worth seeing. ENJOY IT !!!!

Much better than expected
The horror genre is not normally my cup of tea. HOWEVER, this film is better than I expected or than the cover might lead one to think. The main character, Dannielle ("Danny") doesn't come across as being insanely stupid like most of those in horror films do. She is suitably brave -- she is, after all, a forest ranger manning a distant outpost by herself. She checks things out but is doing her job. And she knows how to use a rifle. In most horror films, I'm thinking dear God, SOMEBODY please kill these people quick so their genes don't EVER get into the gene pool. And yes, there are a few of those in this film, but not all of the characters in this film are like that. On a lighter note, Danny's talking gray parrot, "Hoppy," her sole companion at the outpost, is a nice touch, adding some ... The horror genre is not normally my cup of tea. On the negative side, there is lots of blood and gore (of course); however, Danny's boss, Rick -- the older ranger who thought she was just "hammered" and showed up alone in his jeep to get her instead of sending help and a helicopter as she had requested -- died much too fast. I would have preferred to see him thoroughly realize his mistake. The ending, while not bad, was kind of a let down after all that preceded it. I wanted something more. But the movie kept my attention throughout and had something that most horror films lack, a genuine plot that works and people who aren't just bimbos and nerds (though one or two might qualify as jerks).

Loved this Movie!
The story is excellent and the anticipation of the monster is also great! I wish there were better views of the monster, but that's what the pause button is for so I can see the creature as close as I want to :) This one has interviews with the creators and info about the actors as well as their characters, and some great details of how and where the movie was made. That gave alot of insight as to why filming was the way it is (weather conditions) and location. This is one of my all time favorites because it is set in the woods of the NW and just has the spookiness to make it really scary. The story line of the creature and why it's there doesn't hurt either with the scare factor.The story is excellent and the anticipation of the monster is also great!
